Do you think Van Rooyen has traits that would be transferrable to the backline? As much as I want Gibcus; going off their history, our current first rounder will be too high for Luff and Clayton to use it on him. The most realistic outcome I see happening is taking a midfielder (Horne, Callaghan, Goater etc.) with our first and then using the second to hopefully secure one of the WA KPP's.

Amiss seems the pick of the punch atm based on performance but from everything I've read im not sure him or Williams would transition well to defence (our crucial list need imo being a young KPD). Van Rooyen on the other hand sticks out to me as one who could potentially flourish behind the ball.

What are your thoughts on any of the WA keys ability to turn into a solid CHB for us?

Remind me why Collingfilth traded their first Round pick to GWS?
I think it was ostensibly because they would be paying points for Daicos this year so wanted to get as much return as they could for their first pick, but mostly because they really, really needed to salvage something out of trade/draft time last year and try to change the narrative from the fire sale to the exciting draft sliders they had brought in.

What I don’t understand, reading a bit about it again, was why the GWS offer was the one they chose. As it turns out, though, it probably feels better for the rest of us if it’s GWS that winds up with yet another windfall high pick who will probably be great and then be traded home in a few years.

So who will be the second best kid in the draft apart from Horne and Daicos?

Depends if we want a tall or a small.

Callaghan seems to be the clear #2 atm as a 6"3 left footed wingman, with a penetrating left foot and a turn of pace. Would really fit in well with our midfield mix, considering his main criticism is that he's a little bit more outside than inside. He also started the year at half back for the Dragons, before dominating in the middle. So he has some versatility.

We don't necessarily want or need a contested bull considering our center square options moving forward. A damaging wingman with footspeed is ideal.

Gibus along with Darcy are the standout talls of the draft.

Gibcus would be Tarrant's replacement.

Sounds like a better version of Polec!

Someone for Polec to take under his wing maybe and teach him how to play that role properly... ;)
