Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

Can go either way but Daicos and Darcy won’t effect it much as it stands. Pie’s only have later picks at the moment but do need more points. WB which they either use or trade for more points. The way the draft is, with supposedly an even field till about pick 30, it’s hard to see a club trading two picks in the 20s for their first rounder.

I can’t remember reading anything about any other players that are academy or FS picks in the top 30, other posters may know of some?

Josh Fahey, Marcus Windhager Jase Burgoyne, Tex Wanganeen, Jesse Motlop & Jack Peris could all go top 35.

I think Phillips is expendable. He didn't come over to be depth and playing at Box Hill next year. Any grumblings, we blame Clarko as he and his vision is now gone.

He should be overtaken by our youth as early as next year I hope.

Draft rules permitting, as he's just been traded in and only 1 year into his contract, but..

If GC are silly enough to part with McPherson AND 19 sheesh, then how about Phillips to them for Mac and 19, maybe some other pick swaps in our favour to boot. Or package him up with any of TOB, Howe, Hanners and see where to from there. GC could do with hard body. This is on the proviso we like Mac.

1st question, is it allowable, 2nd where does he play with CJ and Bramble (Downie, Day) hopefully taking the wings

I think one of the main things is that GC have to jettison players, not take them on

Which part?

1. You don’t trade a player and then push them out a year later.
2. GC and North are already negotiating on pick 19.
3. GC don’t need Phillips.

Possible pick swap we can try to entertain if we can't use (or trade for better picks) the picks we can get out of TOB, Hanrahan or Howe (assuming they leave).

Collingwood currently have 1707 draft points.
In order to successfully match a bid for Daicos they need 2400 points if Daicos is bid at pick 1, at pick 2 that’s reduced to 2014 points.

"But The Age reports the Magpies will target third and fourth-round picks from other clubs - for reference pick 40, the first in the third round, is worth 429 points - and are willing to trade out future second or third-round picks."

It also mentioned in the link that
"Meanwhile the Western Bulldogs, who need points to match a bid for father-son prospect Sam Darcy (likely to fall in the top five), are eyeing Richmond’s picks 26 and 28 in a trade for their pick 17."
Very short-sighted & silly of footsore if they do this... which is why I have no doubt it'll happen.

With the right trade(s), 9'ers could be right back in premiership contention in 2022 & they already have an outrageous Draft hand. Allowing them to strengthen it with Pick 17 is just dumb - especially when there's gotta be 3+ other clubs that are a lot further back that could get the deal done.

Us - 21 & 24 & 59
Adelaide - 23 & 37 & 44
Eagles - 29 & 35 & 52

Cogs dump.

Last thing we need is another inside mid blocking the development of Worpel, Newcombe and Nash here. Even if Callaghan is the reward over a Hobbs or Ward.

GWS tried Cogs forward. It didn't work. He's slow and not really damaging for a small forward.

Cogs wouldn't agree to come over to play at Box Hill. The club would need to be honest where he would fit depth wise, on a rebuilding list already stacked with inside mids.

Without a guarantee of being best 22, he'd be better off staying put and trying to force his way into a team that's focused on a finals run. Not one that's rebuilding with a focus on youth.

It might be an idea if we move one or both of Mitchell and O'Meara I guess.

Yes, but what if he's not in Mitchell's plans?

I'd package him up if anybody else is interested with a bow on top, and yes I don't really rate him much, would hope he's overtaken soon

If I was the Bulldogs, I would wait until after trade period before I even looked at trading pick 17. Then bring all the interested parties together and auction it off for my own maximum benefit. Let’s be honest, self interest is the only interest that matters

That will do wonders for our attempts to bring in players from other clubs..

Hey come here to hawthorn, we might look to trade you after one season.. but its ok, still come.

FWIW Cogs has been carrying an injury/s for a while. Get him fit and he'd be a fantastic player for any club. He can't be judged on recent form as a player.

this...we can't say hopefully Gunston is thought of as what he was pre injury if he is moved then turn and say Cogs is done so we should get him for nothing

Yes, but is it better he plays at Box Hill?

Which is worse...he was part of Clarkos plans, times move on on and it's somewhat understandable in this situation.

I just see where he fits if two of Bramble, CJ, Day, Downie rise and take the wings. HFF? Not for me

The alternative it seems is we just keep playing coz we recruited him even though there are better on the horizon

If we are drafting for need, it is hard to go past Wanganeen-Milera in the draft. He sounds like an amalgam of Darren Jarman, Darrin Pritchard and Bradley Hill. With Reeves getting his hand to the ball in ruck contests, Mitchell, O'Meara and Nash extracting, Wingard linking and Bramble on the other wing, our forwards will get silver service.

Twomey hs him at #14 in the draft order. If that is right maybe we would be looking at trading our first pick down a few places and elevating our second pick. As things stand, our first pick won't get us one of the top ranked mids. If we traded down our first and used the loose change and our second and third picks, we might be able to land both Wanganeen-Milera and Matthew Johnson. That would get us nicely set up.

We don't know yet where Mitchell will see him or how many of the next generation he will want to play. Phillips won't be going anywhere, you don't bring a guy in then a year later flip him. It hurts your relationship with player agents who you recruited them through and it is bad optics for players looking for a new home too

Yet peeps want to get rid of Mitchell, JOM and Wingard

Depth is something we have lacked last few years as well. If he is pushed out to play at Box Hill it’s a good thing for where the list is at.
