Still no word on what boys have been invited to tonight's draft night hubs that I've seen?, apparently the Adelaide lads function is at the Cathedral Hotel in North Adelaide
I think it was said a 'couple' of players had been invited to the SA one. I'm assuming that is JHF, Wanganeen-Milera and maybe Draper?

I think on today's AFL daily podcast on the AFL site Twomey mentions a few of the names that have been invited. I think he said from SA it was only Horne Francis and Wanganeen Milera

Not sure Hollands is what you'd call explosive but you think the knee reco didn't come into our thinking with a pick that high?

I think if we had of gotten the dream - pick 2 for Brad - we would have called out Hollands name for sure. Unfortunately between his knee and a prodigiously talented 200cm forward ruck we had to skip him

Moving 13 back to a couple of 20s picks doesn't make a lot of sense to me...surely the variety of players at 13 is as wide as mid 20s, but just a better quality?

All reports from Caruso are they don't want another mid (i.e. will trade pick 2) but they could possibly get Amiss, Butler, Wilmont or JVR at that point.

I gathered from the interview Caruso said that they didn't want to bid on Daicos because he didn't fit a positional need, but then went on to cover that statement by saying Callaghan, Gibcus, Rachele, Darcy and Andrew DID fit a positional need.....?

Warranted that Callaghan and Daicos aren't the same types of players, but still..... maybe GWS figure they need to add a bit more to the outside, but the general feel i got is they'd prefer not to take a MID, for sure.

Whatever we do tonight, I just hope we are bold.
No sitting on hands and being conservative. Get adventurous and make every play for the best possible player.

Ring North this afternoon and make another play for pick 1. If that fails,
Ring GWS and make a play for Callaghan. If that fails,
Be open to trading pick 4 for multiple first round picks. If not,
Be willing to pick the player you think has the highest ceiling.
Then be willing to make offers to move up in to the second round.

Mainly, just go for it. Don't sit and wait and hope.

Im just curious if any North posters are reading this thread, what would it take for us to get Pick 1?

I presume we would need to get Pick 2 from the Giants and also offer a future 1st or more?

Any chance leek allerr gets to our 2nd pick?
Possibly. But I think, and hope we will pass. He was part of our academy and we passed up. Great athletic ability, but not good skills by foot. Will be far better options at 33 than him. He's one I've watched a lot this year and too speculative.

Like most getting comfortable with Rachelle with our pick but liking Sinn who would be a player that can add that bit of speed and class we need ,especially if we do trade down . Know sceptics which there are many will say No not another HBF but so was PD and no reason to believe Sinn could add to mid skill level and creativity like PD.

Reality is we just don't have the draft capital I don't think.

To get pick 2 from GWS, we would need to give pick 4 + maybe a 2022 second round pick (although they would get better offers than that).
If we did get that, we would need to give up Pick 2, + 2022 1st round, + 2023 first round pick (not sure if even legal) to get pick 1. Even that won't be enough.

Definitely cannot give a 2023 1st, as per rules.

I’m looking forward to tuning in but also remember last year how much it dragged
It doesn't bother me, cause I like all the commentary and action in the club box's ....I'm a natural voyeur ;)

BUT .....don't think I've watched the last 5 Brownlows .....now that's boring

Olsen will get it done.

At least this year it's split over two nights, although tomorrow night's will take longer as there's around 40-50 picks compared to 18 tonight.

Tomorrow night will be a lot quicker compared to tonight.

Tonight will be about stretching the entire night over a couple of hours.

Yes, can confirm. Seems very keen on Port and vice versa. Its a great interview:

Watched his highlights. Looks a player. Ready to go by the looks too. Lovely left foot. Strong overhead. Clever and mobile. Hope he doesn't get to Port:D
