Appears to be no one next to him, he never makes a note or talks on the phone. He looks like rugby coaches who seem to just watch it all play out.

Based on this year, they will go all out for a grand final next year, target free agents etc or trade for senior 29yo using future 3rd round picks. unless they fall out of the finals race next year which is entirely possible I can't see him leaving on his own for another two seasons.

I agree, which is why I think they’ll change assistants and hope that works. The pressure will certainly be on next year - and it’ll be fun to watch

Bass got an extension so unless they pay him out he will stick around. According to Davies on SEN all coaches except Voss have a contract for next year and he has an offer. Its possible they can shuffle people around through or they let Schofield go.

This game was more the Dogs being far to good rather than Port not turning up

It was both. Port didn’t turn up in the first 10 minutes. And by the time they did the game was gone. Momentum was with the Dogs.

The two goals in red time of the 1st quarter were the nail in the coffin.

It wasn’t the first time this season Port didn’t turn up to begin a game. Collingwood, Carlton, Us, Bulldogs in R23. Their starts have been an issue all season. In the minor round, they were able to pull it back and over run teams, but in a final, with a team like the Dogs, allowing them to hit top speed was a fatal mistake.

I couldn’t tell you a single thing Port’s coaches set up to nullify any of the Bulldogs strengths. I’m fact, what has worked in the past, being Drew on Libba, was left with Drew on the pine.

So Port had that decent ruckman who’s name I forget, then they dumped him to bring in Ryder, who wasn’t the answer, then they dumped him to bring in Lycett, who I’ve always thought was average but clearly played well at WC recently, now he’s reverted to type and they’re going with Ladhams (?)…

Last nights match showed just how overhyped Port are and the list.

Firstly if it wasn't for Boak, Port wouldn't have even made finals. When a 33yo is your star midfielder, you have issues.

Robbie Gray should announce his retirement. He is clearly slowing up and while I am 100% certain he will play next year, he shouldn't. He won't be doing his team any favours.

Steven Motlop needs to be delisted.

Rozee needs to redefine his game. Right this second, if you were to rank the standings from players in his draft year, McHenry could be ahead of him let alone all the other first round players. Its like he is trying to live off this culture of flashiness but is lacking the tricks to pull it off. He looks like a midfielder playing forward and he just looks out of place. Butters has jumped ahead of him and will be a star.

Duursma I believe is going to end up being a travelling depth player. Alot of hype and after an impressive debut year he has no substance. He should never ever bring out that bow and arrow celebration again.

Hinkley again proves he can not coach. He is a great motivator but his match day coaching is average at best. He sacrificed one of his best ball winners to shut down an average opponent and the wrong one. The loss of Drew really hurt Port in the midfield.

What would also be concerning for Port would be how many players simply disappeared when the pressure increased.

Basically they lived up to the downhill skiing football they have been renowned for. Beating up on crap sides but falling to good ones. This is Hinkleys cultural legacy. They win enough games to hide it but it gets exposed badly in finals.

Why? He exemplifies what the AFL version of Port Adelaide is all about.

Hinkley will coach next year but how many coaches stay more than 10 years at a club with no flag?

Bucks and Brad Scott got their sides to Prelims, Bucks to a GF however both eventually got pushed out because they had 10 years and didn't deliver a flag

Excellent player manager so players will initially play for him and then a few years later they get comfortable with him and don't try as hard, hence why the players supposedly "love" him and why he is consider by the industry as a sh*t game day coach.

Exactly this, referred to on the Port board - after the game they can look Ken in the eye because he’s their father figure, tells them everything is going to be ok, rather than someone they wouldn’t dare eyeball after such a poor effort

Who knows what's going on with Ken, who knows what he says to the players, but he gives a very good impression of not having a clue.

It was even replayed at quarter time and used as a discussion point by the commentry team..
