Agree but we're talking AFL.

Fair, level, even, consistent, etc. I don't believe any of these words come up. So I don't expect anything from them.

From what the club could have controlled sounds like most are saying it would have been fairer if they pushed GA/ 3 game members out of the equation.

BD/1870 and platinum in Priority 1
Gold and silver Priority 2

Leaving GA to try their luck with the general public knowing full well all tickets would have gone most likely in Priority 1 anyway.

Interesting to see what feedback they take on for the next home final.

Us GA's were essentially out of the equation anyway being in Priority 2. I don't have a problem being in a lower priority group, but it does rankle when there are suggestions that GA shouldn't even get a priority group. We are 11 game members, I pay for 3 of them (mine and my 2 kids), sure our tickets are cheaper, but as 11 game members we at least deserve some shot in a priority group.

Im just happy we get to play a home final in front of our own members.

Melbourne dont.
Bulldogs dont.
Sydney dont.

Lets make the most of it.

We have 4 x Platinums and missed out. Devastated.
Been lucky the rest of the year and last year a well. Guess it was our turn to miss out…
Still can’t understand how they arrive at 15k being the safe number???
If Delta gets out, 15k in AO is enough to spread it. In my mind u either let 50k in, or none at all…

This is exactly the thoughts of my missus who hates the footy going ahead let alone with crowds. 15,000 is still a high number in terms of people in the one place so what’s the difference between letting 15,000 or more in?

Personally I've managed to secure a ticket thanks to Arsene Wenger. Thanks Legend.

But as someone that originally missed out, I'm not for 1 second angry about priorities. I'm angry that the ticketek process is absolute garbage.

The fact that I was on there for 2 hours clicking next pointlessly, because some other people were scoring a ticket sporadically, after it was apparently sold out, is just ridiculous. The system is an absolute shambles. Not only was it completely unclear that all tickets were sold at any point, but the one message that it was showing was totally incorrect, because people kept getting tickets. Worse still, during those 2 hours of clicking next, at one point I did actually get 1 ticket. Unbelievably though I got it with 41 seconds left on my timeout clock and I could not purchase it, or hold it to my logged in account, and so I lost the ticket!

To then hear people are still getting tickets nearly 30 mins later is just insane.

The whole site and it's process is just such a phenomenal shambles.
After sleeping on it, i've come to terms with watching it on TV but i'm still completely pissed off with the Ticketek process. It was an absolute shambles and i stuck with it for nearly 3 hours because i kept coming on here reading that others had secured tickets.

I similarly had 2 tickets pop up on my phone but it timed out.

And i was one of the lucky ones that is self employed and could waste an afternoon clicking next and logging in and out of ticketek. But i'm still pissed off i wasted a whole afternoon on it and have nothing to show for it.

Managed to get tix for myself and the lad.
From the sounds of it we were extremely lucky.
Sympathise with all those who didn't get the same good fortune.
I'm just grateful to be in the position, when others aren't. And we will enjoy it, but only if we win!

We will try to make up for our percentage of the noise of the thirty nine 54'ths of the supporter base that aren't there by yelling at 72% higher volume!

Thinking it would be fair if those who got tix this time get bumped to a lower priority next game, unless capacity is increased to close to maximum for the ensuing match of course. Would have no issue with that.

I've decided to pass on booking any tickets for next time, so others have a better chance, regardless of whether we're officially bumped down a category or not.

Of course if Nic and Stevo decide to allow 50k in, we'll be in like Flynn again.
Don't you worry about that, by golly, by jingo by crikey! :p:cool:

Today's covid 0 was the 19th consecutive 0 . Some people are trying to say by Friday's announcement it will be 23rd day and that will magically mean thousands of extra tickets will be released. It wont happen. The AFL have said no more tickets before Thursday.

If they do release them on Friday I will call every talk back radio program - current affairs and sports ones - and say we have a pemier, a CMO and chief copper who have sh*t for brains who have stuffed around thousands and are making illogical ad hoc decisons - and ask others to ring in if they agree that the 3 amigos have sh*t for brains and to let them know we aren't happy.

If we win on Friday night then the PF tickets will go on sale on Monday 6th September. On Saturday night 4th when the 2 SF winners are known, then that will be day 31 of consecutive 0's if there is no outbreak. Will that be enough to convince the 3 Amigos to allow 30k or 40k or will they say oh only 18,328 is a safe number to stop us catching the virus?
If we get a home preliminary final, there's a chance we could be playing Nicola's beloved Brisbane Bullets.......

Anyone who has a SACA membership and hasn't got tickets don't forget the SACA game day tickets go on sale at 9am today. A little pricey but food and drinks package helps make up for it.
That would be for their couple of boxes Gil Langley Room and SACA President Room so that's about 200 corporate type tickets,

Ok, could have sworn that’s how it worked last season as we sat out the Geelong game so we’d be cool for the pf.

That's how they managed it during the H&A games but finals is all AFL controlled and they didn't give a shit if you went to one game or both.

Wouldn’t having silver members in priority 2 instead of priority 1 be a fairer approach?

It means that BD & Platinum get the benefit they’ve paid for and Silver members still get an opportunity to get a ticket once the first window is closed.

What was the clubs reasoning in including Silvers in the first window?
We don't pay for priority access to finals over Gold/Silver/Gen Admission 11 game members.

Finals games in the past have been P1 = Anyone with a membership barcode, P2 = General Public.

With only 15,000 tickets available the general public shouldn’t even be in a priority group. We have over 60,000 members so it’s pretty obviously going to be a sellout twice possibly three times over as it is.

It should’ve been…
P1 - Platinum/BD/1870
P2 - Silver/Gold

La fin.
So screw the 11 game General Admission Membership? You don't have a reserve seat with your 11 game membership so you don't count.

Add in there's also all the weirdness of the Essential Memberships in the Western Stand.

I'm not going to argue if its right or wrong, but its clear from reading/hearing the commentary, they arent so much worried about whats in the State right now, but they are worried that they cannot contain it coming across the border frm the East. So their argument probably is, given we know its going to sneak in across the border, the more we can do now, the less impact its going to have before its detected.

Get it and tend to agree. My point was that there is nothing changing this week (eg. Lower cases interstate, new vaccine milestones, number of infectious cycles without a case) that would trigger a relaxation of restrictions. I think we should expect the status quo to continue for the remainder of the season.

I'm a platinum member that missed out and am pretty annoyed about it, I would've loved to have been in a smaller priority 1 group that essentially guaranteed a ticket. But if I was a gold member I'd feel the same way. Or a silver. So it's going to be an issue wherever you draw that line. And there's been nothing said guaranteeing I have more rights than those guys or less rights than Black diamond or whatever?

Since this is potentially still an issue next year, does it need to be spelled out and presented with membership options next year?

Something like (whatever the numbers are, I just made them up):

Like, Club 1870 (is that the highest tier?) is guaranteed priority 1 for all finals games.

Black Diamond is guaranteed priority 1 for finals where Port has more than 5000 seats available to them.

Platinum is guaranteed priority 1 for finals where Port has more than 10000 seats.

Etc, etc.

Then, next year, if restrictions hit, we're at 15k again, that's 7.5k each, you chuck 1870 and Diamond members in priority 1, everyone else in number 2, you can't really complain because you know what you signed up for.

Surely it's simple enough, maybe encourages a few to upgrade their membership, and really takes away any right to feel ripped off. Or is there something I'm missing?

It’s not personal it’s just maths. There’s only 15,000 tickets and we have more than 30,000 reserved seat members so the line should be well and truly already drawn before we even get to unreserved GA memberships. It sucks but it’s a fairer way of doing things and could be even fairer again if they somehow threw in the length of continuous membership into the equation as well.

Was including general public an AFL enforced requirement? If not, they shouldn't have been included at all. As others have said, there was never any chance that the ticket allocation wouldn't be more than exhausted by the members before we got to the general public.
Of course the general public was an AFL /Ticketek enforced policy.

The club would have known the only reason a sellout didn't happen before 5pm window was that Ticketek system stuffed up.

I was looking at the finals ticketing stuff before the crows game started, which was the final game of the minor round, and started this thread before that game finished and in the OP it's time stamped 4.30pm on Sunday

I put up the AFL's link which said Tickets go on sale Tuesday, there were 2 priority groups and then the general public, the first window started at 11am, the second window either 1pm or 2pm and then the final general public window was left blank - to be advised

They have conveniently pulled down that original pages but this is what it said when they changed from Tuesday to Monday at about 7.30pm Sunday night and I copied pasted it from the AFL website at post #4 of this thread.

Ticket on-sale times
SECOND QUALIFYING FINAL
Port Adelaide v Geelong Cats – Adelaide Oval

Port Adelaide Priority 1, Geelong and AFL Members - Monday August 23, 2pm
Port Adelaide Priority 2 Members - Monday August 23, 5pm
General Public – To be Advised

I never saw the original priority groups.

So the AFL and its doppy mates at Ticketek are so busy and cant handle spreading out 4 games over 2 days and 3 windows per day have to lump everything into Monday, 2 windows per game, start at 2pm not 11am and Johnny public can get ****ed but we will make it look like we are being good to them and giving them a chance to buy tickets.

What's the chances they open up another 10k tickets before friday?
More chances Spurrier will ask to take 10k tickets away and only 5k can attend.

Probably

Not sure if true or not but just got a message from a mate telling me that win, lose or draw we won't be playing anymore finals in Adelaide.

SA Health becoming impossible to work with and are suggesting tighter restrictions on further finals at AO.

We head to Perth after this game apparently.
