Benning isn’t better than a rookie prospect. If someone bids on him we move on and it’s good luck to Benning elsewhere imo.
I reckon they are prepared to match a bid on him late in the draft like Joel Western and that is why both both Blakely and Crowden have been delisted to the rookie list.

For what it’s worth I predict Motlop will get selected around 30-36 and Benning will make it through to the rookie list.

Rather go hard for Callaghan. He's doesn't care what state he's in and a better player than the WA product. He will make immediate impact at AFL level which for a team like us who hasn't played finals in a long time is huge.
Where was that quoted ?
top 5 pick from Vic, he holds the cards if he has a change of heart, and if a couple of big Vic clubs come knocking it would be Cerra all over…

I'd be inclined to hold the position that if someone bids before 40, we let him go.

I didn't see anything in his state games that tells me he's worth much more.

If anything, I was underwhelmed.
I don’t see him as a top 25 pick - thereafter he is in the mix. I believe there will be better options available at 21 but we may well trade that pick for a F2 and slide back a little in the second round and then he could come into the mix but again there are others I’d have ahead of him between 25-35. I’m with you and think he is around that 30 mix and a small chance of dropping to 40 so we should roll that dice and not be worried that he ends up elsewhere.

Just a technicality, but before 40 it isn't a bid, it is a draft selection. He is available for any club, and we don't have an option.

I believe we do have an option past 20 as he is a remote indigenous talent in the nga. Motlop is metro talent and therefore can only be matched after 40

What about pick 40. Can we match pick 40 or just from 41 onwards

If a couple of f/s or academy picks go slightly earlier (ie Fahey and Saint Kilda have a couple along with F/s Burgoyne) then that could really help push him out to 40.

between 1 and 40 we cannot match any bid on Motlop. After 40 we can use our next available pick in him.

between 1 and 20 we cannot match a bid on Benning. between 21 and 40 we CAN match a bid on Benning.
after 40 we can use our next available pick on Benning

Just curious, why did we bother picking up picks 61&69 then? Is just on the off chance a bid does come for Benning before pick 40?

I think that by the picks come in from the few high profile bids we will have enough points to match something 30 to 40

Add Jordan Clark to this list next year. Speed across the ground can be our strength.

our game style needs to seriously reflect the speed we have next year or its not great coaching, need to be absolutely pinging from back 50 into the forward line. It's really the only logical way we can score big enough with our lack of good talls.

Alex Pearce and Ethan Hughes have very good burst speed as well.
I don’t expect Pearce to play 20 odd games, Chapman is his apprentice, should be groomed to eventually replace him.
Hughes I can’t see who he would be in front off?
Him and Blakely will have to force their way in.

Chapman and Pearce are not the same type of player and won't be playing the same position.

Logue and Cox don’t play well on the No. 1 tall forwards.
Pearce does but doesn’t get on the park enough to be reliable.
Chapman is the natural footy player, great intercept mark and good ball skills.
If the rumours are true he is now 196cm?
Every team would love a Scarlett, Elvis, defender, we literally have no one else?
