When you stop and think about it for a minute, would Gibcus be that terrible. His family are formally from WA are planning to return ,so he may be a long term docker player. My main reasoning here is that although we have solid players in the back line ,I am not so sure. Hamling hasn't played in 2 years with his injury, not sure that he'll ever be the same and probably break down again, then you have Pearce ,he's very injury prone and from that point is unreliable for the future. You then have logue ,and the jury is still out whether he becomes that A grade player we hope he would, leaving Cox as a reasonable key backline player.
We have Chapman who is going to develop into a top player but he may be better in other positions, either way Gibcus give us that extra insurance
Hambling looking fit and healthy last night at a dinner with the dockers defenders at Strange Company in Freo. Ryan, Cox et. al. there and strangely Duman.

Stephen Michael could have played key back, key forward, wing, flank or mid field and at 188 cm played as a ruck and made AA ruck as well as captain of the AA side.
Great players can play anywhere.
This fixation of key holing a young boy because they played a particular position as a junior is ridiculous.
So you'd be happy with Gibcus?

Agree 100% with this

If we draft the 8th and 10th highest rated on Knighmares Power Rankings, we'd get Andrew and Rachelle. If we manage to get one or both of Erasmus and Johnson, we should be very happy as they're rated 6 and 7 respectively.

Think it might actually have been Taylin's going away. Is that Kersten in the blue?
Is that Sheridan on the end?

The way this guy gets treated on podcasts and always ends up in these of photos of informal player gatherings, he must be one of the Great Guys To Hang Out With.

Don't forget that this is the guy who said that drafting Brayshaw was a mistake (has he ever conceded on that one?) and who doesn't rate Serong because he's not Tom Green.

Johnson, Amiss and Erasmus are all needs and from WA. Seems like a no brainer for them to be priority.

Agree. I guess we'd be hoping someone from tier 2 falls through to pick 21 but if not we'd have a few fancys in tier 3 and if they're gone we'd look at trading back.

I still rate JVR above Amiss, he averaged more goals per game at colts level and stood up in the finals, something Amiss failed to do.

I rate JVR but to be fair Amiss had a knee injury in the finals.

You make a great point about JVR having better stats that Amiss.

We do need to consider that JVR had glandular fever and Amiss was travelling 100's of km.

Amiss rate of improvement is greater than JVR.

Both seem to have pros and cons.

Yeah, I'm really confused about JVR. All along leading up to this season he's looked a talent and performed better than Amiss but for some reason his manager said that he needed to play in defence to have any chance of going first round and if he played forward all year he'd be a late second round pick??? Meanwhile Amiss has played forward all year and is considered a first round pick???

JVR is very similar to Oscar Allen, and could be developed at both ends of the ground.
Amiss projects as that 2-3 tall forward only.
That 194cm height is very in-between, you can see though the difference Treacy brings.
Guy has more aggression and tackling ability than most to compensate.
It’s very hard to predict the 192-195cm forwards ceiling.
You rarely get a Kennedy, Franklin so you have to have diversity in the forward line.
I remember the Hawks failed with a few tall picks in the top ten. Yet still persevered later with Franklin, Roughead.
I will be disappointed if we don’t add a couple of forward options, but that doesn’t have to be first round.
We tried to be clever in trading for them, but that list of players
is clearly embarrassing.
None had the physicality or mental toughness to succeed.
