who's saying his best footy is off half back?
this is his best footy, and it's all forward of centre

Something has gone wrong if someone with pace & skills like that can't get a game.

If it's off field problems don't want him, we have had enough of those players and cleaned them out of the club. If not happy to have him at the right price.

Lets run through the WA players that were at the Brownlow for some reason

Liam Baker
Shai Bolton
Patty Cripps
Jaegar Omeara

Who else was there?

(Exclude finals teams (GWS, Dogs, Dees, Cats) and teams from SA as there is free travel)

Why were these players let in? Partners that live in WA?

Did Cogs attend the Perth Brownlow night?

COGS is also in Perth. Doing the rounds with Fyfe, Liam Ryan and JOM in forrest place today

When I hear someone say Hughes is a bad player I just assume they either don't watch our games regularly or they're just being a contrarian for the sake of it. Dude's a good player, not great, but good.

My thinking it's just human psychology.
Hughes is a bit like a poor man's Ibbotson, although I'd say a bit harder.

Hughes is known to make some very obvious clangers which stick in the mind.
Some people never get past those, some balance it off with the rest of his game and some gloss over it.

How you think about Hughes probably depends partially on your emotional response to his worst, which has been crigney at times (like Ibbotson).

I like him and love his endeavour, but recognise he has some limitations.
I suspect from players' comments he's a good clubman too, which is part of the equation we don't often see and is a big part of success.

You know what else he has in common with Garrick? Takes an absolute eon to make a decision on what to do with the ball...slows our ball movement down inordinately

Which makes the fact that he always seems to make himself available to receive the ball, even more annoying.

Well, Cogs and JOM always said they would ned their careers playing together......

If I was opposition coach, I'd be inclined to coach it that way...

Slow decisions coupled with an almost guaranteed coach killer or two per game

Let's be hyperbolic for a moment. Assuming we get pick #6 and (something) for Cerra.

Is Erasmus (Fyfe) that much better than Johnson (Mundy)?

Pick #6 to West Coast for #10 and #29
Pick #25, #27 and #29 to Western Bulldogs for #17 & 2022 2nd

Pick #6 - West Coast select Erasmus.
Pick #8 - Fremantle select one of Johnson/JVR/Williams/Amiss
Pick #10 - Fremantle select one of Johnson/JVR/Williams/Amiss
Pick #17 - Fremantle select one of Johnson/JVR/Williams/Amiss

I’m in favour of splitting the pick 6 (if we get it) into a mid teens and low 20’s pick if possible. Another article in the Herald Sun today saying their chats with club scouts/recruiters confirms (at this stage) that 15 or the top 20 this year will come from Vic, so that leaves only 5 from all the other states. There should be at least 2-3 from SA (Horne-F, Draper, Milera-W), so that means max 2-3 in top 20 from WA. If this is correct I would use our pick 8 to get who we think is the best out of JVR/Amiss/Eramus/Johnson then hopefully have 3 more picks in the mid teens/twenties to get the best of the rest.

Hopefully our recruitment team looks at all the talent, and puts a small weight on origin.

The WA-centric options don't make for great reading overall in hindsight.

So I guess it's fair to say you're in the first category; no making up for the clangers.

Not really…he’s brave and reads the play really well…

he also can’t think quick to get us moving and is prone to one or two absolte howlers per game…

I can see why Walker and Young will surpass him

For West Coast. .

I know, but that is seriously off the table for them.
JOM replaces Cerra, Cogs replaces Tucker who would be pushed out.
with the terms "exciting" and "big" trade period, that would cover it off.
Or Franklin, who would be a salary dump and very cheap.

I like this guy's youtube channel. Nothing startling or original -- he just a punter not a journo.

Trigger warning though: his club is WCE. That might put some off.

If they want a salary dump I would rather take Macca ;)
