Tom Brown at 21...

Could you imagine the melts on here if after everything we did to get and keep pick 21 we used it on a skinny half back from Victoria?

Fair dinkum, that's a horrible pick.

Haha that would be hilarious. That's the one that Geelong want and why they were pushing so hard for pick 19.

I'd just do it for sh!ts & Giggles and be a pain in the butt to Geelong trading him on the way back.

His dad only playing a couple of games in the last couple of years with Geelong meant he finished sixteen short of qualifying for father son.

My issue with Logue is the price we paid for him. I don't expect the club to draft a third defender with a top 10 pick. I accept he's still young and had his injury issues, but it's because we got him at pick 8 that I want (hope) to see him develop into more of a match winner - whether that's forward, or on the ball, or remaining down back I don't care.

(Maybe "match winner" is too much an ask - I'd settle for "match influencer". I'm yet to watch a game and think "Thank **** we have Logue out there.")

Damn ESPN has Callaghan dropping to pick 7, one short of ours 🙈
He also has us taking a hbf with strong links to Geelong at 19 (Brown), then Draper 2 picks later (a medium forward/mid). We will need support for Ryan, Young, Wilson and Hughes. Clearly doesn't rate Clark or the Irish hbf-er we have picked up. Not sure what he thinks Walker and Chapman will be doing.

Whoever you are referring to sounds like he has little knowledge of our squad. Must be an East coast journo. AmIright?

Sonsie goes a few picks later as well, and from the brief description also seems to fill a need for us.

Picks 61 and 69 move up another spot.
Pretty convenient for GWS that there are two F/S projected to go in the top 4. Means they can match a bid for their player from pick 15ish on with junk picks that get promoted ten spots up. Actually our pick 69 would be about right for covering themselves off. Do they have a future 4th to trade?

Let's use those numbers... I'll work out what we end up with.
Assuming Daicos goes #3 and Darcy goes #4 and Gold Coast earn the scorn of both clubs before GWS get a bid at #15

Actually, we won't make him bid on at #15 - that's the pick GWS hold, so it's the pick after now #16.

Daicos at #3 = 1787 points needed.
Uses up their #36, #38, #40, #46 and #48 for a surplus of 242 points

Darcy at #4 = 1627 points needed.
Uses up their #24, #41, #42 and #43 for a surplus of 343 points

Fahey at #16 = 854 points needed.
Uses up their #45, #47 and #64 leaving a deficit of 106 points

Fremantle's picks end up being:
#8, #10, #22, #53 and #61

The Pies keep their #55 and #58 with a bid at #3 - there's 377 points on the table there. They won't be touched unless he goes #1.
The Dogs hold their #48 (post Daicos at #3) for an extra 302 points. They can cover a bid up to #2 for Darcy.

Knightmare.

In fairness to him, my understanding is that he makes his rankings and then ticks down the list for the draft picks. If you're 22nd in the rankings, that's pretty much pick he has you at in his phantom. And Brown looks like a terrific prospect. Just the wrong position and the wrong club.

I’m similar. My ‘bashing’ is influenced by him being selected 8. I don’t mind Hughes as an example and you could argue pros and cons for both. But in terms of bang for buck, Hughes is essentially a free hit. Logue at 8 seems a waste.

I think my frustrations in him are magnified by this belief he shouldn’t make the brain fades he makes if you’re a top 10 pick.

The cost to acquire is what I constantly reference in my mind when I say ‘spud’.

Not really. His October power rankings are dramatically different to this phantom for a number of players (e.g. Roberts, Alleer, Draper, Uwland, Rachele, Amiss, Gibcus etc). For example he has Gibcus ranked 20, but now has him going 4 in the phantom. Or Roberts he has ranked 7, and now going 27 in his phantom.

Maybe his November power rankings will look like this latest phantom. That's his special trick ... has power rankings in Sept/Oct, but then changes them in Nov to match everybody else's rankings, despite no football being played and thus no reason to change your rankings. Absolute joke of an "expert".

Other notable f/S or academy picks that could go between 30-50

Stk - Marcus Windhanger
Port - Jase Burgoyne
Melb - Taj Woewodin

Both port and Stk picks are after 61, will only improve 69 if at all.

We have
Freo - Eric Benning
- Jesse Motlop who we will be lucky to get
- Richard Bartlett the other one to watch.

There might be a couple of others later in the draft.
Might end up with #52, #59.
Potential both eaten by our academy kids if we are lucky or unlucky.
