Nothing I said suggested it was personal. I said it was a cowardly decision, which it is, for the business and idiotic.
OK let's look at the situation. He is out of contract at the end of 2023. He starts playing again and gets injured. The club offers him a substantially reduced contract. His manager goes off and fields better offers and finds one, and he walks. The club will then again look idiotic as we have over the past 20 years.

Because he gets injured again and walks? If he cops an injury big enough for us to low ball him and he walks then good luck to him. Didn't work for Dan Menzel. Geelong dont look stupid there.

Will pigs be flying too? Why would the club look idiotic for that? Did someone at the club sleep with your mum? Have a gigantic axe to grind, at first it was kind of cool getting a different opinion to positivity place, now its just downright sad.

So we're supposed to offer Charlie a gigantic contract in perpetuity? You do realize that campaigner shares some of the blame right?

Who in their right mind plays Basketball after a serious knee injury, height of stupidity, let alone all the mail about him skateboarding down a steep hill, good god.

I'll shed a tear of joy when I see him kick a bag again, but to somehow blame the club for all his injuries is height of ridiculousness.

"The revelations at the other end of the scale prompted more muttering. For one, umpiring decisions were found to have almost no bearing on results. And there was a killer blow to Deluca's status as moneyballer No.1: ruck hit-outs were exposed as the most useless statistical category of all".

what the list manager should have done:

  • foreseen how draft prospects would turn out
  • foreseen how traded out players would improve
  • foreseen how traded in players would stagnate
  • foreseen long term injuries and drafted for coverage
  • foreseen how rule changes would impact the game
  • foreseen covid
  • drafted any player that has developed well somewhere else rather than any he drafted
  • drafted only match-hardened, ready to go 18 year olds
  • drafted only players bigfooty posters approve of
  • wrangled complex, multi-player trades where carlton receives numbers of stellar performers at little to no cost
Too much to ask? My tarot card reader does it why can't the CFC.

It looks like Kennedy is really starting to become the player we hoped he could be. Only just turned 24 (3 months ago) - could easily have another 7-10 years of this sort of footy left in him. I hope we are well on the way to a fair deal for him so another club doesn't swoop and get themselves a bargain.

Some players just take a bit longer.

Our midfield has absolutely evolved over the last month. Cripps, Walsh, Kennedy, Dow and a rotating forward or two, is deadly. Just wait until Stocker gets unleashed in there too.

I doubt we need another on-baller in the off season. A classy winger and some KPPs is where it's at for me.

I don't think we need or should target a high priced mid like Cerra.

Cripps, Kennedy, Dow, Walsh, SPS, Stocker.

Fisher and Martin rolling through there.

Fingers crossed with Setterfield, Cuninghan and O Brien (we are screaming out for a quality winger). Add Ramsay and Carrol. Draft a young classy forward-mid like Rachele and we are set.

The longer the season goes on, the more I think we should retire off all the old blokes except Jones.
Good situation to be in finally.
Love them all but it is getting to a point where they can largely be replaced with capable young players
Could see Eddie going around for another year, perhaps in transition.
He's amazing, still has the magic and he looks like he is still enjoying himself.

After getting some game time, Kennedy and Dow look like AFL standard midfielders. We now need to develop O'Brien, Stocker, SPS and Setterfield.

Newnes, E.Curnow and Murphy should rotate if any injuries to the players below. Murphy would be my preference to get him to 300 games.

Team for the remainder of the season:

B: Plowman-----------------Jones----------------Newman

H: Williams----------------Weitering--------------Saad

C: SPS----------------------Cripps----------------O'Brien

H: Martin-------------------Silvagni---------------Fisher

F: Betts---------------------McKay----------------Owies

Foll: De Koning, Dow, Walsh

Bench: Williamson, Setterfield, Kennedy, Stocker

Would love to get Mabior Chol in to play that second ruck/resting forward role

Someone drawing up the terms for Kennedy yet? Good hoof for goal, finding plenty of it and taking pack marks. Liam Jones-like change of form.

Think Matt Kennedy has well and truely earned himself a new contract. Had a great game today headlined by that great goal from 65m out on the run!

100% and is looking like the one for that big-bodied role. Not just to support Cripps but today he stood up to be THE main inside mid in his absence was was great.

We need him with Setterfield in poor form and Ed Curnow's career winding down.

Forget about Cerra. George Hewitt is the player we desperately need. Will round off our midfield perfectly.

I don't think we need either if Kennedy and Dow can keep it up. Fisher and SPS also getting more midfield minutes now.

Still don't know if they'll make it but we have talent available with Setterfield/LOB/Philp/Ramsay/Carroll/Kemp. Stocker could potentially move into the midfield. Cunners though he's always injured. Who knows Williams might have a killer pre-season and go into the midfield in 2022 as originally planned.

Cerra isn't really good enough IMO to be worth chasing on a big contract...he doesn't give us a point of difference.
