I’m just wondering what leads to you to say Setters was one of our best players last season? He didn’t figure in the top 10 of our best and fairest awards which leads to the reasonable conclusion he is not one of our best players.
Voted for by a coaching panel that supporters are calling for to resign and get fired. He was voted as the most improved player by fans and was statistically the most improved midfielder in the competition last year. I don't care much for him but he is certainly not a delist worthy player. If anything he would be traded or kept on another year. My main point is that just like Dow was considered a bust 2 months ago, a lot can change over a pre season. Id be keeping Dow Stocker and Kennedy and moving on Setterfield to try to get draft capital for other trades/draftees, certainly not delisting him though.

I wouldn’t delist him either, my only issue with what you said was that I think it’s a real push to say he was one of our best players last season no matter what lens you are looking through. He has very few credits in the bank as far I’m concerned so he is playing for his career next year.

I should have said most promising, not best. He has been my biggest disappointment this year.

I feel like minimal changes might be on the cards.

Murphy, Betts retired.
Marchbank and maybe Gibbons delisted with rookie options.
We are still in the bottom half of the ladder, so we need to continue to improve the list.

l would think Casboult & Newnes & Settle field, may not be there next year, Curnow may get 1 more year .

l would think based on where we are and the need to add another class midfielder & young defender & ruckman would still expect 6-7 list changes, may also depend on who is coaching etc.

I think one of our main issues is how poor our senior players have generally been. (With the exception of Jones.)

Looking at the article below, I'd say our 30+ list is probably only ahead of the Dogs in terms of current output.

Compare with Brisbane where their 30+ are regularly in their bests.

They were always going to struggle but even then Curnow until he was pushed out of the midfield was in the best most weeks, Betts easily our second biggest goal scorer and Jones obviously one of our very best players. If we are actually talking the 30+ guys, teams like st Kilda, Dogs, Freo, Melbourne, GC, Essendon maybe even Adelaide have got less or very little more then we have out of them this season.

Not sure why we delist Levi, we have injury issues with our talls and not a lot of depth, he stays.
Newnes is a solid player and at worst very good 20-25 ranked player, he stays.
Setterfield, im not ready to give up on just yet.

Correct and the lot coming through are now mature bodies and coming into their prime. No upside of the over 30+ bracket bar Jones. They just need to do it respectfully. All have been great servants but the time is now to move completely to the next gen.

Doc should be the second oldest on our list next year.

Given the growth we have seen when we have given our younger guys responsibility I would be of the preference that bar Jones all are moved out, I think. The argument of you need mature bodies is dead in the water. These guys are now mature bodies and their turn to go.
We need to open up 6/7 senior list spots minimum for draft & trades...
We need to improve the list by bringing in better talented players...

Murphy - retired
Casboult - delist/retired
Betts - rookie - retired
Newnes - delist
Newman - delist
Marchbank - probably placed on rookie
McDonald - rookie - delist
Gibbons - trade/delist
Cottrell - rookie - delist

Ed Curnow - most probably gets 1year
Setterfield - possible trade/ player swap
SPS - possible trade Freo 2nd rounder

Kennedy - possible rookie upgrade
Honey - possible rookie upgrade

Owies - retain on rookie list 4th year
Mirkov- 18mth contract - rookie list

If the club gives Eddie another contract I'll cancel my membership. If the board signs off in it I'll wholeheartedly support any motion to spill the board.

5 touches, 0 tackles, 1 easy over the top goal.

Absolute champion of the game but his time is up.

Fisher needs to go too.
