List Mgmt. 2021 NAB National AFL Draft

Just my two cents but is there any point in us trading for an established star at this point? I'm happy to hit the draft for top end talent the next couple of years then chase the established star when our group starts to mature together.

If he is 20\24 I would jump at it.

King from GC jump at.

I'm happy go draft we were burnt with Treloar future trading gave to much pick 7 and 7 I think it was?

Last year was a disaster.

Andrew is not going at 6, probably not even top 10, he is very raw and a huge risk at pick 6.

Not sure how raw he could be after having apparently been working on his game under Melbourne's development umbrella since he was 14?

That highlights video that was shown also doesn't point to him being raw, he seems to be pretty comfortable with all aspects of the game and has decent game / spatial awareness:

His kicking in that video needs a bit of work but his technique itself is fine. Not a whole lot wrong with him from what I can tell.

I'm not doubting his potential, but he seems to be a ruckman more than anything. Not many ruckman get picked at 6. It will be interesting to see where he goes

NGA has whiskers on it.
Melbourne use their resources & time to develop this kid (since 14?) just to watch some else draft him.
So you develop these kids…hoping they turn out good…but not too good.

But the Northern State Sides can do that still

Why for goodness sakes would you split the first round into two when there literally isn't one positive reason for doing so and quite a few negative reasons, including keeping the anxiety button firmly pressed overnight for any prospects who may end up sliding?

The AFL are just so stupid sometimes it's not funny.

Ignore the above - I misread the tweet.

Ties up club resources unnecessarily over 3 days (with rookie draft).
Just knock it over in 1 day.
Absolutely ridiculous.

I daresay it's a media request. And let's face it, media rights is bankrolling the industry at the moment. Not much lost really with going for multiple days.

Be great if they got pick 3 then GWS took him the pick before
I thought I heard GWS say that they are 1. Looking for a tall and 2. Don’t nominate father-sons unless there is a real chance that can get them.
If North don’t bid, Daicos could fall to 3. How many points will we need?

This isn't breaking news.
They won't split the first round.
As they did 2 years ago, they'll do the first round on the first evening and the rest on evening 2.

Last year's first round went for a long time.

Not sure but I think we'll have whatever points we need anyway

Rather 1 Night just don't have the Mucking Around
But its a very long night. Last year went til like midnight.

Plus with the NGA top 20, that pick 19 the suns have is very valuable, so that 2nd day gives clubs the ability to make phone calls.

Cut out the 10 minute interviews, and keep the draft going and bam problem solved.
Idea. But live trading and that 5 mins in between each draft call makes that diffiicult. Also clearly for fox broadcasting reasons.

Charlie Dean is one the pies recruiting team had a strong interest with in his draft year 2019.
his excellent form at Williamstown in 2021 after 2020 was wiped out makes me think he would be worth a late or rookie pick.
Was a tall forward mainly at the Dragons but doing very well under Plapp (he coached Fritsch at Casey) as a 195cm intercepting key defender

IF they stopped the Mucking Around they could at least cut an hour off

They should leave Interviews to the Clubs

He played both forward and back at Wesley too.

Sounds like Gold Coast have pretty much a full playing list, and the only real pick they may actually take in the ND this year will be pick 3.

The other picks they take will probably be players they delist and retake. They even need to make space somehow for Chol.

Surely we just try to swap our future 2nd for pick 22 in that case. That would completely cover our points for Nick.

yea, their senior list is full, to the point they'll have to delist/re-rookie some seniors to go onto the rookie list to open up spots.

They are trying to trade a few players out too
not actively. But if they find a home for Brodie, both parties are open to it. With MacPherson, he hasn't said he is looking for another home, but the list manager said that if something pops up, both parties would have a look at it.
