Bulldogs are a very good side well capable of beating us on their day. Have a terrific midfield and some dangerous forwards most notably.

That all said, we have not a single excuse. Full list, week off, hone prelim. Nothing but a win next week is acceptable.

Plus they hopefully played their grand final last night, because we're desperate to play in one!!!

Brisbane awfully poor defensively around the footy. All front running most of the second half. We have good defensive accountability so bulldogs will have a much more difficult time in that respect.

Like i said before I have plenty of respect for the Dogs and what they bring, but we should absolutely annihilate them in the ruck. In doing so we win a fair share of clearance and contested ball, we will have plenty of chances to kick a winning score.

Our forward line mix is so good right now. Obv Dix and Marshall but the smalls of Fantasia / Rozee / Butters R Gray will be deadly.

Bring it on

I hope Dixon puts in a heroic performance and kicks a bag

even the run chase and tackle creating pressure and opportunity

his value is work rate rather than being a super star full forward

If Footscray are to reach the GF this year, they are going to have to do something that is incredibly rare - they are going to have to win two interstate games in a row.

This is something that has only happened once under the current finals system - in 2019 when GWS beat Brisbane in the SF and then Collingwood in the PF, both wins by under a goal.

Other teams have come close to doing it, including Port in 2013 and 2014; and West Coast and Adelaide both did it in the 90s under different finals systems.

For this week, Port have form, fitness and history on their side. No excuses for not getting the job done.

When I think of Dixon having an impact, that's exactly what I think. Having a real impact from a defensive perspective and really making players feel his presence with a solid tackle and a bit of mongrel.

But also, importantly for Port, I think he'll assert his dominance on the scoreboard as well. And your other small forwards will chime in with a few goals to put it beyond reach, even with an extra 3 men on the opposition's squad.

We kicked ourselves our of Hawks 2014. Should have had at least 6 on the board come 1st qtr!

Yes that also, no doubt. Watch the Q2 umpiring and then the decisions in the final moments and then tell me the umpires didn’t have a preferred winner.

Can anyone work out the Vic/Non vic free kick ratio for the first half only? Apart from last night in Brisbane, that appears to be when the umpires do their best work.

Remember Q1 against Richmond 2014. Richmond had 8 free kicks on the board before we got our first.

Last week we won in Tassie, last night we won in Brisbane. If we are to reach the GF, we will need to win three interstate games in a row.

Anyway, genuinely enjoy Port and being from SW Vic, Willem Drew is someone I've enjoyed watching this year and glad he's finally getting a good run at it. If not us, I'll be cheering you boys in the granny. Good luck folks.

Yeah, I get your point. I should have been clearer. What I meant was interstate away games against opponents playing in their home state, not interstate games at neutral venues where the opposition is also travelling, like you had last week.

Bulldogs have this really weird thing where they get obliterated in the rucks but still match hitouts to advantage and win clearances. Yeah I don't get it too

Not looking forward to this at all. If we were playing Brisbane I'd be looking forward to it. Right now I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for an umpire reaming the likes of which has never been seen before.

It's so hard to have any true belief with this side.

After several years of performances that have only served to confirm our fears and the reality that we just aren't good enough to win a flag, the concept we might now be good enough, and investing myself fully in that belief, is just so hard to do.

I just feel weird.

I'm so full of hope, but I'm still fully expecting we are not going to be good enough to win the flag, whether that means losing this week or next.

I just want to win the whole thing. I want to believe we are truly good enough.

I still worry about our midfield, our smarts under pressure, our tendency to fumble and bumble along, our starts, and some of the fundamentals of our gameplan. However there's been some great signs in the last few weeks that we're getting our forward press rolling, our forward line is looking dangerous, and clearly our basic team structures have held up. But can we do this for 2 more weeks.

I want to believe, I'm going to continue to hope like hell this side can bring us what we all want, but I will also continue to feel sceptical.

My biggest concern for this week in particular though is that when we last played the Dogs, we absolutely controlled the game. Dominated the play for 3 and a bit quarters. Yet we only won by 2 points. We should've won by far more. We won't get it all on our own terms like that again, and we're going to have to put far more scoreboard pressure on them to get this win. Can we win, of course we can. Should we win, probably. But will we? **** I hope so!

Carn Ports!

So much nervousness and trepidation surrounding this week.
Cannot begin to guess what I'll be like the portnight after, if we fluke a win?
Put us out of our misery Ports - just ****ing win.

Will the umps make their bias so obvious and blatant in our upcoming match? I’m hoping that they’ve dug themselves into trouble so much so far that they now have no choice but to officiate fair as to not bring even more negative attention towards their shit officiating but I doubt it very much
