Basically this season should be a launch pad. Now anything short of top 4 next season would honestly feel like a disappointment ngl. Hope things dont go Melbourne 2018 to 2019 for us. Expectations raised.

Basically we had our Swans 2010-11 period this season. Need to go up another gear.

I am expecting a dip tbh. Expecting that we will make finals as we are a good team, but I'm also anticipating growing pains in the midfield that we didn't experience this year, and also think our defensive woes might worsen before they get better.

I have to agree

Rampe obviously and he isn’t getting any younger and such a big part of that group

2 things we need a key defender and a decent back up ruckman, then I think we are a very good chance for a repeat of 2012

I disagree with your midfield prognosis, but agree with defensive issues.

Bagging Rampe and Mexican is just poor form imo, they both played pretty well. Any mistakes in the D50 are likely to be costly, but I thought all of our defence was pretty good all night.

Lloyd (you know him, the bloke everybody bags as being useless with his little chip kicks) and Dawson being heavily tagged, impacted our attack from defence, so we used other avenues which weren't as effective, but I still think we played the better football for most of that game. Sure they came at us for a quarter and a half, but you've got to expect that in finals.

Bagging individual players just makes us look bad, especially if we weren't actually at the game cause 7s coverage is bloody awful! The final quarter was ours for the taking, and we didn't... 2-7 is not any individuals fault!

In fact, I thought we played really well, just simply couldn't kick straight. It's sh*t but it happens... and in the end it lost us the game. Bad luck! It's been a brilliant, unexpected and thrilling season! Very, very proud of all our boys! Next year will most likely be even better!!!

GO BLOODS !!!

Rampe does some odd things there was one instance in the first QTR where i think he tried to kick the ball? but missed it completely and resulted in a GWS goal.

That's why i was harsh on you last week , it always comes back to bite you on the arse lol

We could blame every player in the team for making a mistake. Just like we could blame ourselves for things in our own lives.
We need to move on from this miss or that bad decision. Nothing good results from that.
Onwards to next year. What do we need to do to improve?

I'm upset this one came around to bite me in the arse. I genuinely believed we were gonna win it this year. Hopefully my prediction about next year comes back to bite me in the arse too, as it would mean we win it lol.

However whether we won it this year or not, I've been consistent that next year will be a problem for us in the midfield and defence.

We had 65 Inside 50s at the same efficiency as GWS, 19 more I50s than GWS. We plain & simply blew it. Kicked 2.7 in the last quarter. We lost this game rather than GWS winning it. I still think we should've had better forward 50 entries.

Dawson had only 3 turnovers for the match but I'm pretty sure every one of them were kicks inside 50.

Was just one of those games where all the dangerous front half things that make us so good weren't on.

Defence will be a multi-year fix. Serious KPD issues.
Mids No major problem. But you always need more.
Ruck needs serious work. Not much around and everyone wants them.
Forwards-I hope we draft one FF this year.

Honestly not that much other than more consistency in order to grab a double chance.

One area we really need to sort out what we are going to do with Melican/Brand/Fox they are competing for the one position which is unfortunate as i think Fox is more than deserving a starting spot.

But yer im not expecting a radical overhaul of the defense in 1 off-season as that is unrealistic.

Pretty damn solid season.

Yep. I've been very consistent in saying KPD is our major weakness and has caused us to lose games this year.

That Tom green is gonna be a gun too

I have no idea how Toby Greene was voted MVP for this game.

There is just no version of reality where his 3.1, 10 possessions and 1 mark was a better performance than Heeney's 4.1, 21 possessions and 5 marks.

But if the commentators spend 90% of air-time talking about a player enough I suppose no one else lingers in the collective memory enough.

Where ? Tony Shaw coped it for giving 4 Swans players votes out of 5 , he replied they were the better team
