Comben has played one game - we need a backup plan if he doesn’t make it or is injured.
Chol plays like a flanker - has no presence.
Weideman is probably a better option

For discussion sake, lets ignore the fact he'd be brought in on the promise that he'd be playing ahead of Comben.

At what cost?

Im not sure comben would or could be prioritised given his track record and single senior game. Hence we need another kpf.

I reckon he will be prioritised

Yes, we do need an other KPF in case Comben or Larkey gets injured or struggle. I think it would be hard to put a case to Weideman to come across if he's not given assurances that he'll get first crack at it. I'm not saying I wouldn't have him.

if we were to bring in Chol or as he would be known Cholm, we'd need to offload both Xerri & Campbell. Then he'd need to get ahead of Larkey & Comben AKA Chomo, Choms, Chomie and Chomp. Not sure i see the point in doing all of that.

Goldy has the ruck spot sewn up for another year or two.

I know it was a relatively quiet first game (as expected from a 20 year old KPF), but it's clear that with a big injury free preseason, that Comben/Larkey will be our starting KPF combo in 2022.

For that reason, I can't see us targeting a KPF with the expectation that they will get opportunity ahead of Comben. A depth KPF? Sure, but Weideman isn't coming across to play behind Comben & Larkey.
If he doesn’t want to come across to us, because he is scared of competition from a first gamer… we probably don’t want him!

Think he might be of to the Saints with that hair cut.

Why do we have to guarantee him anything? He may not want a guarantee… he actually might back himself in to train his ass off over pre-season & get picked to play ahead of an injury prone first gamer.
Who are these cheap back up forwards we should be targeting?
