So we have saved around 300k from Billings, roughly 300K from Hanners and I assume if Ross accepts his contract it would be around 200k less than before. Ryder offered another year, you'd think it would be around 100k less than we gave him when he signed the original 2 year deal. Not sure how much of Robbo we had to pay out and the reducing in Geary's contract.

I'd say over a Mill back in the kitty to use to upgrade existing ones that deserve it and also look at shaking an elite mid from a diff club.

Great to see Billings locked up.

So the only chess pieces we have are
Ross
Dunstan
Webster
Battle
and Salary Cap space

Long Lonie and Kent Wood et al are just there in case we need them.

So if the rumours are true 9 to 3 which is pick 25 in differential then Rich 7 and they also have 16. Which is pick 36 in differential.

GCS need leadership and players but also have rumoured salary cap issues... how they achieved that feat I do not know.

They have Fiorini playing well late not unlike Dunstan and Will Brodie who has never really clicked up there. Both would be on good coin and not playing to it...not unlike Ross. They also have picks that make them more a seller than buyer...which devalues them.

Clearly Dunstan and Ross have some value just not at the price they want. Battle as well for different reasons.

So if we shipped two of them off to GCS and paid part of their salary and a later pick which makes up the pick 25 differential (pick 22) and a bit more say pick 43.

We seem to like splitting picks and ad a result finish up with 7 and 16 from Richmond.

Personally I would keep 3 and 22 but maybe Richmond have something GCS want and by compromise makes this deal possible.

2 frd picks in a wide open draft and 43 there for our agency bids.

Come on you know it makes sense!!!

Billings salary is believed to have gone from 700-750k down to 400-450k per year + his incentives. I believe that's around his worth and a good deal for the club. Howard is on about 500k and JB isn't more valuable then him.
400-450k is a bargain for someone like Billings.

Would you be paying a lot more in the open market for one of his types.

With us trying to get Steele and Marshall's contracted extended before pre season, we are probably trying to front load them extra money next year and free up money for our attempt at Bing.

Not really a bargain. We’ve overpaid him for the last 4 years ($750-800k) so it kinda just balances the ledger 👍🏼

Robertson's contract is over so we don't need to pay him anything. That's another 600k saved.

If that is indeed accurate, it’s a good deal for the Saints. $500k seemed overs to me based on his usual output, he’s a decent player but pretty vanilla. 4 years is a fair deal. Hopefully he hits his incentives.

Personally it doesn’t bother me what players got paid last year. The current and future salary cap is all I care about. You’ve got to pay a certain percent each year, we’re bound to overpay spuds in the short term.

Jeez just reading trade news, if Collingwood and Essendon get all the players they're linked to they'll have enough for four teams each!

Pies picked up two good support staff though in Bolton and Leppa.
Carlton seems like they are sinking deeper in the mire - not unhappy about that 🤣

More amazing that Collingwood have no draft picks and need to find points for Daicos at pick 1 yet while also being linked to so many players and no one traded out.

I'm happy we kept billings,

Ideally we should be keeping players that can play in a premiership team. Can I see billings getting a medal on a GF day? Yeah I can. Can't say the same about Ross and Dunstan. Keep Ross for depth but he shouldn't be starting next year barring injuries. Don't think we will be overly active in the trades this year so we are better off keeping billings and, I guess Ross for the meantime

On second thought he'd be a great pick up and nice to see him rejoin one of his North Melbourne teammates.

Hard pressed to find a better Wood'n'Daw combination.
Just don't get your Wood caught in the Daw

Clav gone is a bit of a surprise to me.
Hope to god we have a couple of tall defenders lined up.

That is the take that I get from his delisting...that we are well progressed in discussions with a defender. I am eagerly awaiting the confirmation that Talia has done a medical under the watchful eyes of a Saints appointed medical expert.

I’ve posted this before but I heard from a source that a very good player was off to the crows. I’ll wait and see if it plays out because there’s been a new coach appointed since and so on but this player would provide some decent draft picks Imo.
