‘ Ross gets the loose ball at half back, King is all on his own at CHF, he stops, props and kicks a beautiful mongrel out on the full on the outer side’

yeh, let’s have that guy at half back…

C'mon mate, he can hit a target. It usually has to come down from Etihad roof but eventually, he hits his target!

I just don't want to go backwards next year. The last few years we've been very active bringing in players trying to to bridge the gap. This year is the first year we are actually shedding good players with only internal improvement to bridge the gap. To be better next year we need to improve by probably 10% to slip into the 8 while staving off the other sides around our level also trying to move up.

The positives next year are....
King should be better and closer to what he put up late in the year and hopefully Sharman should be carrying on his form.
The injury list should be smaller.
The draw favours us after finishing low on the ladder.
The players we need to come on should develop now that they are getting games.

Experience says that....
We'll have our most important players injured.
Seb Ross and Jack Billings will still be in our best players.
The AFL will find a way to make our draw look like it should belong to a top 4 side.
Our kids will walk around like rockstars without putting in the work.
We got stitched up with the draw this year. Give us PA's draw and we would have played finals.

Gil loves us, and the AFL will surely equalize this with the 2022 draw.

"Good to see Collingwood's trade, they now have picks 22, 36, 41, 43, 46, 48 all before our second pick currently at 49. Quite possibly all or most of those get eaten up by the Daicos bid which will bring in our 49 to mid 40s. If the same happens to Darcy then that pick 49 could be closer to 40 - basically makes a third round pick into a second round, and gives us 50% more points for our NGA bids."

Posting this from the Draft thread... a great point by bergholt re: the effects of the Pies/GC trade on having the points for our NGA boys.

Gill has never done us any favours.

I am happy with Tristan Xerri if we can get him for the right price. Feel like he'd come cheaper than Ladhams. 22yo and most likely a better ruck back up than Hunter. Gives us that security, and some games to see a) how he goes ruck with Marshall forward and we don't know what the structure will look like IF we can get Bing in. I am not wanting to pay big for Ladhams, get Bing in and then find out Ladhams doesn't fit in or the side isn't working.

Tell me if this correct , Collingwood get pick 22 , 46 , 58 and they have to use all the picks to grab Diacos - does this mean our pick in round 3 actually improves 3 spots so 49 becomes 46 - the Dogs are most likely to do the same for Darcy.

That seems like an amazing deal for Collingwood.
If they go up the ladder significantly next season, Gold Coast are screwed right over.

I get the enthusiasm for this guy, and the fun we’re having with it, but I’m cautious about performances over a few games rather than a broader portfolio.
So while Sharman has had a couple of good weeks, I’m not that caught up in the hype. Same as with Hind.
Let’s see the performance over a season or two.
However…..
For all sorts of reasons, that is a great, great mark.

GCS only have list space to pick up 1-2 players this year so they would have lost the picks anyway.
Therefore they have given themselves 12 months to clear the list space to be able to use picks.

Waterworth from Fox Sports saying that Xerri is linked to the Saints. Thinks a 3rd rounder would be enough.
Thats all you would want to pay at best , is only young though so may have some upside

I take it back , i just saw his so called highlights , Heath would just about have him covered ,

Dogs own that pick.

Not sure how we could get involved?

I suggested on the Dawsonbturead that Adelaide give their 2nd and 3rd for 17 and on trade it to the swans for Dawson.
No idea either. SOS has also suggested the same thing (he was in with them when the quote I heard including St Kilda was made). So I think SOS’ info is that we are the fourth club.
