What pick range is he expected to go at?Interesting that the Goat has WA family..
Andy Brayshaw esk….
Why Dockers or Eagles might pull the trigger on a Calder Cannon gun
Dashing midfielder Josh Goater has caught the eye of Western Australian clubswww.afl.com.au
I know he is Vic Metro.
He probably is the only one I’ve seen this year with inside/outside Mid qualities and a bit of toe to break from the middle through congestion.
On my list I have him in the top 10.
Sam Draper did for us, paid of for both parties. Some of them do.

Isn't that how Will Powell for selected by the Suns? Compiled his own highlights and sent it round. Before that he was off the radar and didn't even get selected for the WA side. Some of them do.
The WAFL website has had Amiss at 195cm for some time but my understanding from people is that he is 196cm.
Further, my understanding is that Jack Williams was measured as 197cm, but again is reported on the WAFL website as 195cm.
The interesting one is Neil Erasmus; someone told me that he was 192cm (WAFL and most have him down as 188cm), and I wouldn't have believed it until I crossed paths with him in a shopping centre on the weekend and my gut assessment was that he was as tall if not taller than Pav (whose height I am familiar with from University days, so maybe that is stretching my memory a bit?).
I do like the way he played in his vid. Plenty of urgency and relentless contesting. That style of play can hamper kick development. Intensity always turned up to 11 and no time for considered technique as it gets rushed.I'd expect Goater to go anywhere from 5 to 15.
I wouldn't be surprised if he was high on our list - WA connection, size, midfield versatility, speed. I wrote a bit about him in my draft thread yesterday, in which I'm not quite as high on him as others (an opinion I reserve the right to change if we draft him). If we were to take him over the local kids in Erasmus and Johnson, it'd be because he plays with more speed than the other bigger body midfielders. And we'd see him as being able to help with the run and carry.
Personally, I think he's a high risk high reward prospect. Wouldn't surprise if he either becomes a star or struggles. His kicking is only average, it'd be closer to Fyfe and Blakely level than being a strength - although I do agree it's being a bit overstated on other BigFooty boards at the moment, it's average not abysmal. I also can't shake this feeling that if he doesn't make it as a midfielder, then half back is where he'd be best suited.
I'd rather take the safer option in Johnson, or see if Knevitt is available at our third pick. Otherwise Rachele or Erasmus, because at least if they fail as midfielders than they should be decent forward options.
I say this only because I was a big fan of drafting him at the time, but I get some serious Tom Lamb vibes when I see Goater's highlights. Not saying he will be a spud like Lamb, but I think he has that potential.I'd expect Goater to go anywhere from 5 to 15.

Media? ZeroHanger is basically a blog isn't it?I'd be pretty weary of any media articles on who we like. We seem to be very very good at keeping who we rate and where a secret. I still remember us throwing Montagna under the bus with the Freddy pick, and that was basically with someone who works with us and 5 minutes away from the pick
Also now Hazleby/Twomey saying we are keen on Andrew and the Twomey Goater article as well. All insinuating at least who we likeMedia? ZeroHanger is basically a blog isn't it?
what happened with the freddy pick?I'd be pretty weary of any media articles on who we like. We seem to be very very good at keeping who we rate and where a secret. With two picks we are free to try this trick again. We definitely want to encourage the clubs immediately below us not to trade down if we hear the clubs above are keen on the players we are in to.There is also deception at play as well. In 2019 Adelaide were looking to trade pick 6 to Carlton for pick 9 and extra, hoping Fischer McAsey would still be there at 9. We knew if Carlton had pick 6 that they would take Young or Serong, so we made enough noise about taking McAsey with one of our picks to scare off Adelaide from doing the deal.
yeah it's been pretty rare for us to be so public about who we like. only time since the rebuild started were we were strongly linked to someone in the draft was Chapman last yearI'd be pretty weary of any media articles on who we like. Was a poorly executed conversation between Jordan and the recruiters. literally all it shows in his tape is marking outside 50 and kicking it in then appearing at half back.WTF are you on about?
Clearly they dont, its more tounge in cheek comment of how that tape showed absolutely **** all of what youd want from "the best small forward in the draft" .It's not like draftees submit their highlights tape as a resume.
The recruiters would have seen him play, every Colts game is recorded now.
Could you imagine GC overhearing Freddie's name and changing their pick based on whispers. Recruiters quickly watching a draft video while the clock ticks.Behind the Draft part 3: On a wing and a prayer

Fox Footy presenter, and Fremantle opposition analyst, Leigh Montagna also has his mind on who might go in the fourth round, but for a different reason.
He has a good relationship with the Freo recruiters and he pops in for a chat.
“Leigh has been doing a lot of opposition analysis work with us,” Walls said.
“He was about to call out the fourth round of the draft and he came into our room and asked if there were any players that would possibly go that had a difficult pronunciation.
“We said they were 'all pretty standard names, you’ll have no issues there'.
“At that time we were set on Michael Frederick, we knew his official name was Minairo, but we didn’t tell Leigh that.”
Fremantle pro scout Neil Ross, knowing he was being unhelpful, offers to give Montagna the full list of 843 names.
To be clear, they would help Montagna if they could - no recruiter would risk telling anyone who they are targeting if they could help it. Not even if they work for the same club.
At pick 60, Gold Coast call out Jy Farrar. It means yet another Halls Creek boy has entered the AFL.
It also means Freo are free to pick Frederick.
“Just as we got there, we knew he was ours, there was a huge sense of relief that everything had gone to plan for us,” Walls said.
Montagna then provides some extra relief, of the comedic variety, on live TV.
He handles the announcement well, but the recruiters can tell what’s going through his mind.
“Leigh comes out on stage and we can see the horror in his face as he attempts to pronounce Minairo,” Walls said.
There are a few wry smiles from the recruiters as the Fox Footy cameras continue to broadcast live from the room.
They keep it together until the coverage cuts to Hawthorn’s selection at no.62.
“Straight after, I reckon within 15 seconds of calling his name out live on TV, Leigh sent us a text saying ‘thanks for the heads up, fellas’.”
The room bursts into laughter, and Freo’s national draft is over.
