If he has been keeping himself fit he will be capable of playing round one. Really strong around hips and upper body.
If we are confident that Chapman could play midfield than we can select Rachele. Otherwise, Erasmus would be the better choice.

The problem is that if we don’t get enough midfield ball, the forwards starve.
Then if we don’t have the tall timber, the smalls don’t get any ground ball gets.
Easier to get a good small around pick 18-30 odd after you have built a quality spine.
Best case Rochele slides, or we take the next best small?

Sorry I don’t get how Bailey Banfield on the rookie list in any way impacts our ability to select Bazzo.

We are a very good chance to select Bazzo or Williams if we downgrade our pick 21. A club like Richmond who have 26,27,28 would be one option who may jump at a slider and offer one of their two F2nds along with say 27 or 28 and then Bazzo or Williams will come into play. He has played some good games forward with Guildford, but his best across all formats has been at CHB.

Baily Banfield is taking up a rookie list spot. Bazzo will be long gone before the rookie list. We currently have 5 list spots available (not incl. Cat-b). We will likely go 4+1 but we will have the option of passing or trading our last pick which is currently pick 69. Bailey Banfield aside if Sumich comes out and says Bazzo is a big sook and no one should touch him and he is still available at 69 (which would have likely pushed up into the 50’s) then we can still add him as fifth selection in the ND and go without a live selection in the Rookie Draft. Again I have zero idea how Bailey Banfield prevents us selecting Bazzo with either of our third fourth or even fifth ND selections.

In saying all this I’m not a massive advocate for Bailey Banfield just wondering how you came to that conclusion.
We only have 5 available spots - Benning = 4 (Bennings cat b IMO listing most likely will not happen).
Most want Erasmus + Amiss or JVR = 2
yes we can take Bazzo but that leaves 1 list spot for Hough, Sheldrick, Chester, Knevitt, Blake Howes,
Motlop, Dittmar + Warner. It wouldn’t take a lot of creativity to have rearranged some of the picks we had
to have picked up more of these., and they would add to our side.

Banfield would be the next train departing the station as I see it, if we were going on performances
this year. I’m not a Bailey hater + he was unlucky to get creamed below the legs in that practice match.

But on performance alone he is lucky to have been signed.

No-one would have foreseen that we would have picked up Brodie and taken away a list spot, but we
should have learnt from the debacle when we delisted De Boer, Collins + co.
We delisted those who didn’t have a contract.

Basso would be great to get, but we don’t have enough spare list spaces.

Bailey Banfield should not have been resigned (if at all) until after the trade period.

Now we will have to let a number of possible guns go elsewhere.

Bazzo has been playing forward in PSA for Guildford, and believe he has kicked some bags, so Iwonder how he would project as a forward/ swing man? Could be an option if we miss out on JVR

Unlike JVR where he's quality as a forward and as a defender, Bazzo as a forward is a completely different player to the one in defence

I would love him, but with only 5 spots available, hard choices have to be made.
This is one year where it really is hard which way to go.

I do hope we get him, but who do you miss out on.

I would take Daicos at 30 ;)

Wonder what his pressure in side 50 is like? For some reason doesn’t strike me as the defensive type…
Idea of Henry , Walters and Rachele trying to pressure in50 worries me
I'm not sure why they chose his highlights to be mainly outside 50 and kicking it to the forwards? If he is the best small forward in the comp you want to see goals agility speed etc.

He also seems to have the old Tab marking style with palms out, he had to double grab a bunch of easy marks.

Exactly! Wasn’t much SF craft apart from the fact he’s short…
I think 6 is to high for small forward anyway. 6 or 8, and definitely to high for a skinny low possession winger in NWM, for 8.

So pre-combine we've been talking about Amiss at 193cm. Interestingly now SEN is referring to him at 196cm, and others now at 195cm. Seems to have grown a bit (and shrinking in the late afternoons maybe?) and only a cm or two off Tabsie's height? Anyone got the actual combine result out of curiosity?

According to wafl.com he has only kicked 21 goals in 16 games (thats L/R & colts). You'd assume a fair % of those weren't on camera at all so it doesn't leave much of a pool of goalkicking highlights.

So is he the best small forward in the draft because there aren't many other top rated ones? I mean is this is his draft tape he will be looking awkwardly

"this is my marking on the wing. And again outside 50. Oh this is me playing at half back. Here I kicked a goal. Oh yeap me on the wing kicking inside 50... Oh uh yeah here I am playing in our defensive 50 kicking it out".

"Aren't you supposed to be a small forward mate?".

WTF are you on about?

The WAFL website has had Amiss at 195cm for some time but my understanding from people is that he is 196cm.

Further, my understanding is that Jack Williams was measured as 197cm, but again is reported on the WAFL website as 195cm.

The interesting one is Neil Erasmus; someone told me that he was 192cm (WAFL and most have him down as 188cm), and I wouldn't have believed it until I crossed paths with him in a shopping centre on the weekend and my gut assessment was that he was as tall if not taller than Pav (whose height I am familiar with from University days, so maybe that is stretching my memory a bit?).

It's not like draftees submit their highlights tape as a resume.

The recruiters would have seen him play, every Colts game is recorded now.

Interesting that the Goat has WA family..

Andy Brayshaw esk….

I know he is Vic Metro.

He probably is the only one I’ve seen this year with inside/outside Mid qualities and a bit of toe to break from the middle through congestion.

On my list I have him in the top 10.
