Hewett at 14 (16) and a KPF/Ruck Isaac Keeler at 17 (20) would be a great result.Well, a potential trade back with SYD hey - music to my ears. I started with Hewett as my 10, changed to a Trade back, because I was unsure of Hewett’s go home. If he is linked to the club at 14, they’ve obviously done or will do due diligence, and that would be a steal. Weddle is one I have gradually been convinced of by others, but I would prefer Hayes at 17.
Hayes and Hewett would be my absolute dream draft scenario.
At our last pick - a KPF/Ruck project like Scully, Verrall or Knobel.
There’s plenty of combinations we could come up with for the wing spots.Hollands and Carroll could play in the same side in the future.
We need to draft mids now or we will struggle in 12-24 months time, unless you have faith in Dow or Philp making it and Ed playing until he is 40.
We've got 5 go-to mids, and then Carroll.Dow & Philp and Ed Curnow were not even part of the team last year.
We have added Cerra & Hewitt and Acres to boost our mid field stocks in the last 12mths, Walsh is still early 20's Cripps & Kennedy are in good shape and no doubt Carroll should be ready to go very soon.
The age profile is good in this area and it is not the only area that could do with further improvement.
Could even trade this years second to maintain a presence in next years draft. In terms of the potential trade with Sydney I’d imagine it’s something like this: 10&F2 for 14,17 and future 3rd.
As much as we can dream of 10 for 14 and 17, that ain’t happening!
Roy Higgins, the Professor. Not sure. I was a Roy Higgins fan. Both Harry and Roy would have got months now for excessive whip use.
Our trip away committee must have been poor that year. We drove to Echuca.
Anyway back to the draft. Twomeys mock comes out tonight I think which generally is close to being on the money.
Agree with that, if we continue to draft pure mids as distinct from that half forward/midfielder we are going to be forcing players like Cerra & Walsh into that role, there are three in this draft in terms of exactly what we need. We've got 5 go-to mids, and then Carroll.
There's serious question marks over every other mid even being on the list in 24. And we lost Setters, who covered our arse in the last few rounds.
I personally think our biggest need is a mid/forward, but adding a/several good running mids seems like sound list managment.
We were a bottom 2 side in 2018 and nothing changed heading into 2019. GC and Carlton were the 2 spoon favourites. When was the last season that wasn't a disaster injury wise? Anyway, done with this one, I will raise a very condescending eyebrow at the Hawthorn or kangaroos war room on Monday though if they make a similar trade.2018 was a disaster injury wise. 2 wins was not an accurate reflection of where we should have been. It was also going to be the year we bottomed out in terms of our list build.
Who could have predicted that Bolton would have gone so badly in the first half of 2019?
It's not so much push them out, as be coverage for if we get injuries. Especially in the first few years. There aren't many draftees who force their way into good midfields straight away.Agree with that, if we continue to draft pure mids as distinct from that half forward/midfielder we are going to be forcing players like Cerra & Walsh into that role, there are three in this draft in terms of exactly what we need.
More the former. Is this an exciting draft because it’s pretty even and therefore one bolter can change the top 12. dramatically?
Or simply it has been a while since we had multiple picks? With the possibility to trade too?
Exciting times
It's exciting to me because our first draftee doesn't have to be our saviour but can take some time to grow into his role.Is this an exciting draft because it’s pretty even and therefore one bolter can change the top 12. dramatically?

We getting pick 17 for pick 29? Ain’t happeningI'd do F1 and 29 for 14 and 17. Hollands, Hotton and maybe a Cowan or KPP like Hayes. Would be very happy with that haul.
Indeedbang on
You can use the injury discussion what if for most positions, what happens if Weitering or Young go down in defence or Curnow or McKay not very much back up in either area right now. It's not so much push them out, as be coverage for if we get injuries. Especially in the first few years. There aren't many draftees who force their way into good midfields straight away.
Also, Voss has mad it clear that we've got enough inside mids. A player like Hollands can play mid, but his running means he can also play wing, which is why he would be of interest.
Agree with the academy players presenting an opportunity to trade up, but Austin has made it clear this year is about going to the draft so can’t see us trading out a good pick this year as we are keen to get as many picks under 30 as we can. I know Austin said ideally he’d love 3 picks inside 30 and given the evenness of 11-30 odd it make absolute sense. #inaustinwetrustCould even trade this years second to maintain a presence in next years draft.
Always the possibility of trading multiple second rounders for a 1st in next years ND. Academy players always give you the opportunity to trade up if need be.
not realistic to think we'll ever have a like for like replacement for players of that quality.........You can use the injury discussion what if for most positions, what happens if Weitering or Young go down in defence or Curnow or McKay not very much back up in either area right now.

Acres should be set for 3-4 seasons if he can stay injury free.
I’d back one of Carroll, LOB or Cottrell to make it as a best 22 player, playing on the wing or elsewhere.
Looks like there’s quite a few options for an outside player in the second round, and IMO someone like Burgiel or Binns isn’t a major downgrade on Hollands - if at all. Burgiel is a better kick, Binns has a pretty similar running capacity.
Dream scenario/best case we trade down to grab another first and can take our preferred option in Hollands and then also take George (or Hewett) as a dynamic mid-sized forward with the second pick.
If we retain our current selections then I’d preference Humphrey and then potentially seek a trade with Essendon to grab Pick 22 to take Burgiel.
I’ve put a line through Dow. Philp is probably odds on not to make it, but should get opportunity at some point to play a high half forward role.
The midfield is definitely an area we need to beef up, but I wouldn’t put all our eggs in the Hollands basket if we can find a more suitable suite of players in this draft.
Exactly, we need a good tall and small for this draftStill need spine players as back ups and or developing
At the moment, the only back up/development players are S. Durdin and Mirkov
While you can manufacture a smaller forwardline If Harry and or Charlie are out, we would be forced to use, Jsos, Kemp as marking targets. Or throw TDK or Young forward
If Pitto and or TDK are out, we use Jsos then we struggle
Before the start of next year, I would prefer another KPD and a KPF/chopout ruck
My mail has Essendon taking Phillipou.
