Drafting McAsey over Young also goes down as one of the all time draft blunders
Taken after McAsey:

Young
Serong
Green (academy player but we could have bid on him as we apparently interviewed him more than most other clubs)
Pickett
Day
Bergmann
Weightman
Georgiades
De Koning

Some good players taken in the second round also (including two of the ones we drafted).

That 2016-19 period is going to push our rebuild out. Hopefully the likes of Soligo and Taylor prove to be first round quality players to help make up for it.

Heath Chapman and Hayden Young who were both playing in their first ever final, had a combined 55 disposals, 20 marks, 7 tackles, 10 rebound 50s.
Chapman was 3 picks after Pedlar and Young was the pick after Fish.

Didn’t outsmart him at all. The umpire made two poor decisions. Guessed at the first one where Franklin flopped and got caught in the emotion on the second one

By rights Buddy should get a fine for two flops on Monday

Both decisions were correct. You can not hit a player under circumstances. I dont know why you are defending that. Buddy exaggerated the contact but a hit is a hit. The second one, May did literally bump buddy. He went down easy but again, you can not legally check someones run off the ball. Even if Buddy hadn't gone to ground but stumbled off his run, a free would have been paid. Shepherding off the ball is not allowed. Do you need a lesson on the rules or something?

And yet they don’t pay this everytime

And yet they don’t pay this everytime

AFL has some of the most absurd and inconsistently umpired rules in any game in the world. I've never ever come across another sport that stops paying free kicks in finals purely because they want the game to flow. Cricket umpires don't all of a sudden stop paying knicks to the keeper or lbws in world cup finals. I totally understand the frustration around buddy's free's. But May has himself to blame.

Still both shit decisions

Who is Fremantle's recruiting manager?
Since Ross the Boss left and they change just managers their recruiting and drafting has gone up another level considering they lost Neale and Cerra and Fyfe is predominantly injured one would expect disaster.
They haven't missed with their 1st 3 picks for 3 years and have Erasmus and Parker as highly talented big body draft picks that can further bolster the midfield.
Acres, Aish, Brodie and Clark traded during this period become handy role players.
Again another club that invested most of its early draft capital in mids just starting to reap the rewards.

Rompingwins said that was their 7th finals win ever? Crazy stat.

I hate Brisbane but would be good to see them roll Melbourne next week and Freo drop the Pies to eliminate the MCG tenants. Annoying that if Melbourne win they will get their home prelim final against Geelong.
Brisbane won't beat Geelong. We need Melbourne to win.

Seems that HTB is being umpired very differently in the finals so far, the amount of times I saw Geelong players, Selwood in particular and WB players not pinged was more than normal.

Every time a player is tackled it's seriously a guess what they're going to pay. The HTB rule is completely broken.

Collingwood in particular were robbed of a few HTB decisions in the second half. Ducking is supposed to be prior opportunity. Why is a player almost always penalised when the tackle dislodges the ball but never paid when it doesn't, even if the player has had prior opportunity? It's just a lottery.

Franklin literally ran into May

At the time I was hoping Picket. As a WWT supporter I had seen him a number of times and rated him highly. Melbourne must have been over the moon at the time. Georgiades and De Koning were steal especial De Koning

De Koning a clear defender we needed.

Then you add in that high tackles are loosely not paid if its a forward inside 50m and yeah the rules are broken.

Pies I agree were robbed, I thought the exact same thing.
