If we don't go with a taller mid with our first rounder this year I'd be shocked after drafting short people last year and in addition to Moore emerging as a legit mid. Mackenzie, Phillipou, Hewitt and Humphrey in that order please.

Mac and the Pou if the latter tests well in the speed and agility stakes, throw in the Bear too I guess after them. We need an upsized competitor with acceleration and clean use, movement in and out of traffic, smarts and footy IQ in every direction. Pou being that year younger almost points to him maybe being a little more special than the other two. He lacks their forward craft though by all accounts and on available evidence.

I see the arguments for JC and I like his iron will, he would make a solid selection. We drafted Ward last year who has similar traits. I believe we have a fleet of 180cm mids already with JOM, TOM, Moore etc. already though, and we need to look to someone with more potential dynamic upside and bulk to throw around. Size ain't everything, but you need a balance so that when you don't have the ball, you're not getting shoved aside too easily.

The fact that Bailey Humphrey was at Waverley yesterday, per recent information, doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Bailey is an excellent half-forward/midfielder who combines a brutal style of play with explosiveness, the X-factor, and versatility to make a difference in the middle of the field. When playing in the forward line, his elite aerial capability and his knack for finding the scoreboard are unrivalled by his competitors. However, in my opinion, We will have our best chance of finding a top-tier midfielder in this cohort, so we shouldn't draft him. We have a better chance of selecting a star midfielder from this year's talent crop than from the 2023 class, which is rich in talented half-forward players who can play in the midfield but lacking in star midfielders. Furthermore, by the time we begin to seriously contend for the Premiership in around 2026, a midfielder chosen with our first pick this year would be nearing his best football. When all of these factors are taken into account, I'm certain that this year is our best chance to select a top-notch stoppage and clearance midfielder, which we are currently lacking. While I agree that we must choose the best talent available and that Cam Mackenzie, Jhye Clark, or Mattaes Phillipou would be superior selections to Humphrey for other reasons, we must take these factors into account when choosing our top candidate.

After finding the nab league app and watching the prelim and gf, as much as I would love sheezel happy to take Mackenzie. For me the bigger priority is getting a late first rounder in and taking hotton really liked his games good mover and complements what we have. If we did then would be more open to philippou or Humphrey at our first pick. Also like Charlie Clarke second round and liked the look of Jonti Schuback and our nga cooper vickery with late or rookie picks.

How would you know Hotton would be available with a late first rounder at the time we have to call out pick 7?

McKenzie (if available at 7) and George (if available at second pick) IMO is the ideal mix.

We get a gun goal kicking mid and the equal best mid size/small forward (George & Sheezle).

With the inclusion of Amon, McKenzie, George (who won’t play next year due to ACL), and if Brockman stays, I’m going the early crow and saying we play finals next year. 🧐

Hope we don’t pick Humphrey with our first. Don’t like the way he drops the footy onto his foot. Bad technique ……. we need players in the midfield that can kick the ball really well. Sorry.

You can re-educate ball drop if needed.

Love the step at 43sec - we need another player who has that evasiveness in our midfield mix - Worpel, O'Maera and Ward aren't that type of player, though I have seen the Newk do this on multiple occasions (is there anything he can't do?)

I'm of the thinking that Humphrey will develop into a stoppage player. BUT fair point and great intel on the 2023 draft! I've been told that there is a big difference in depth between this coming draft and the 2023 draft, and that it's going to affect the rebuilding team's draft strategies quite a bit. Apparently some clubs aren't overly keen on this draft class as a cohort.

Ill predict Olli Hotton top 5 in rising star voting next year. Keep reading good things about him.

I wonder whether we would reach for a Jefferson with our 1st if Cadman were gone given our need for another key forward.

Not saying I would go this way but it kind of makes sense given how long they generally take to prosper and the way our list build is progressing.

I think that I would go with Cadman with our pick if, by some miracle he was there, but barring that being the case I would rather take a safer option and pick a mid since there looks like there will be some quality mids available. If we had a pick around the 15 mark eg a salary dump freebie say, then I would be tempted to take Jefferson.

With the worst midfield in the comp, we better take a mid with our first

Was BOG in Warragul 3rds Grand Final win over Maffra
I was speaking to their oppositions coach and he said he didn't realise he was playing until he carried on like a galah after getting an accidental knock to the head and was the least of his concerns . I know he was named best but was that because of his name?

I couldn’t tell you as I wasn’t there but I’m told he played well.
I’ve also been told he’s an excellent footballer
I’m yet to see him play but catching up with a mate from Warragul next week who should have a good idea
