Grundy got shown up badly against an overweight Crossley in his VFL return, in round 19, so the back end of the season. Based on what we all saw of him then, there’s no guarantee he would have been back to an acceptable standard by the AFL finals had he remained fit, let alone been able to nullify a rampaging Hickey.

So no. It’s not that simple.

Maybe that because Grundy missed so much Footy and got Injured during the Game as well

I saw one phantom draft that had North taking him in the 20's.

Looks promising in that package - as they all should though.

Bit more height and size than Ryan
He's probably in that range of players that falls into a mid to late 2nd round range.

From the AFL site:
A tall defender who is a fine intercept mark and can break open the game with his bursts of speed. He has elite running capacity and can play on tall and small forwards as required. Was impressive with his one-touch hands in all four Allies matches at the 2022 NAB AFL National Championships U18 Boys, where he averaged 17 disposals and was named his team’s best player against Victoria Metro. Also averaged 14 disposals for the Tasmania Devils in the NAB League and featured on the interchange in the NAB League Team of the Year.

That's my limited understanding, that age group or thereabouts before the seniors
EFA

No, I heard that he came back with the younger guys to find out where the toilets are new club and all

You can make as many excuses for him as you like Dave, but the point is he was clearly nowhere near his best, and there’s no guarantee he’d have gotten to that point by finals time even if he didn’t get injured.

Well he was a Big Reason we beat Essendon with his Huge Final Qtr on Anzac Day

In round 5. Fairly irrelevant in regards to what he would have been capable of after such a long injury lay-off. But I digress, this is the draft thread, on draft night. We shouldn’t be talking about a Melbourne player here.

I was not the one who started it

Some people just can't let it go

I just want someone who doesn't replicate Mayne and kick the ball sideways, especially not with our first pick.
Wouldn't call him a tall defender as per below at 193cm, however McCallum had a solid year of footy:

Hewitt might be a Bust and what would people say then?
He probably will be. I think most players outside this years top 10 will be. The thing with Hewett is he’s top 10 on talent, IMO, and is going to slip for other reasons (go home factor/ off field behaviour/ character whatever) much like Darling 12 years ago.
