Keen to trade out our pick 16 for either of the following:

  • Future first from a club like Geelong or Melbourne
  • Future second from a club like North or Adelaide

Would also accept pick 16 for an F2 and a pick in late 20's.

We need to bolster next years hand, and if Hine rates 15 -30 as even then it's the perfect opportunity to do so. 2 or 3 picks in the 20's in still very solid.

That's my limited understanding, that age group or thereabouts before the seniors
Although it did mention newbie but now veteran Mitchell, thought he would return along with the other seniors.
Mitch and the Hawks finished earlier and can return earlier would be my guess.

McCrae finally has a tank - that’s great news and a potential sign of big improvement.

I dunno if the 2km time is necessarily that informative of how they’ll go over the course of a game, but I think Finn has the right attitude and plenty of tools to make it. This is the year he needs to step up, but I think he will.

I’m not so keen.

Although if the trade is with Melbourne I’d much rather Freo’s future first off them.

I think it's always better to go hard on the draft in front of you. Next years picks are all speculative at this point and there is no guarantee they will be a better batch.

The collective sigh across the board when we pass on Hewett is going to hurt, but that aside it’s shaping to be a fun night for once with it the first genuine best available draft I can remember for us. I hope everyone’s favourite gets over the line!*

*except for the peeps that want us to go tall because we never go tall 🤣

Lol I'll be happy with him at 27.
Anyone have a start time for the draft?

Is it just the top 10 or the whole first round Couchy?

I believe he rated 15 - 22/23 as relatively even.

That’s the likes of Allan, Hayes, George, Hotton, Cowan, Jones, Clarke, Weddle.

We would rate Allan and George higher than the mids at 30.

Names almost certain to be taken tonight:

"WHICH PLAYERS HAVE BEEN INVITED TO THE DRAFT?
The AFL has invited 13 of the top prospects to Monday night’s first round at Marvel Stadium, with a handful of notable snubs.
Notably they are the 13 players predicted to go in the top 13 in Fox Footy’s Phantom Draft.
The consensus top four - Aaron Cadman, Will Ashcroft, George Wardlaw and Harry Sheezel - got the nod, along with Victorians Bailey Humphrey, Cameron Mackenzie, Elijah Tsatas, Jhye Clark and Oliver Hollands.
South Australian top-five bolter Mattaes Phillipou will be there in person, as will West Australian pair Reuben Ginbey and Jedd Busslinger, plus Jaspa Fletcher, the second Lions father-son prospect expected to go early after Ashcroft.

The most notable absentees are WA’s Ed Allan, the son of ex-Docker and Hawk Ben, plus Victorian key forward Matt Jefferson and the highly-rated but potential slider Elijah Hewett."

Hine sounded pretty keen to get rid of 16. Mentioned a top group of 12 or so, but then later alluded to things evening up around pick 15 into the 20s.
My money is on us trading it down to 22 with Essendon for their future second.

You’d assume they’re 3 of the 5 he likes, but was cryptic by saying they’re all in a HBF group around the 15 - 20 range. but still wonder if he’s avoiding mentioning a player like Hayes for v good reason.

Interestingly, he also said that there is interest ahead of us in Ryan, so it’s pretty hard to pick him if he’s already gone. I’d be staggered if Ryan is gone by our pick, unless Adelaide clubs are keen to trade for picks 14 or 15 specifically for him.

He'll most likely be there at pick 30...
