I’m simply pointing out he is far from an elite player. And IMO opinion 850k is for elites. Copelands, brownlow votes would all be low as well. We disagree, it’s fine. I just wouldn’t pay him that kind of money. He’s far to inconsistent and we can do better.
It'd be interesting to know what percentage of salary cap each club spends on different areas of the ground. If Degoey leaves, I suspect we'll be spending way under most teams on our midfielders - unless you include the ruck.

Not saying that means that we should keep JDG, but it's something that your post made me think.

Good. Because they’re shit.

I know the reasons. Just not ideal right now. But we can fix that.

That because of the Trade we did in 2020 Draft.

Guess we could get some More Pick from FA Compo and Trades

Had to do it to get Nick Daicos without going into Deficat in this years Draft
And to get Lipinski and Kreuger.

It was pretty awesome trading.

We turned a mid twenties pick and Max Lynch into Kreuger, Lipinski, a chunk of Daicos points. The picks in the 40s that we used for this year's kids and an extra 2 picks in the 40s for the 2022 draft that we can hopefully use to trade up a bit.

That says more about our midfield than De Goey

No dramas. I def don’t think Degoey is worth anywhere near 850k. That’s reserved for all Australian players IMO.
Overpaying players on 6-7 year contracts results in opportunity cost elsewhere. Ties up salary cap with players that aren’t elite , consistent match winners and stops you getting players in who are

As it stands it's almost an even swap for us to trade picks 42, 46 and 47 to the Lions for Pick 17.

If we continue to fall we could start to really eye that selection off IMO. Not sure the Lions would do it as it stands.

“If we continue to fall”? Are those third rounders even our own picks? Who are they tied to?

EDIT: FWIW I’m not a big fan of robbing the future to pay for the present, but if it were a case of trading a 2023 third into 2022 to sweeten the points pot and on-trade it to Brisbane to secure a 2022 first, I’m ok with that. We need top-end talent and our recent record with third rounders ain’t great.

Collingwood picks 42, 46 & 47 = (395 + 331 + 316) = 1,042 points
Brisbane pick 17 = 1,025 points
Gold Coast picks 34, 43 & 44 = (542 + 378 + 362) = 1,282 points
Essendon picks 21 & 39 = (878 + 446) = 1,324 points [Essendon may think that pick 17 comes in before Davey F&S pick]
Geelong picks 30, 48 & 51 = (629 + 302 + 259) = 1,190 points

Unfortunately for us there will be multiple clubs looking to get Brisbane's first rounder so they would just go with the highest points value.

As I mentioned above, there could well be clubs who would prefer a Collingwood 2023 3rd to their own 2022 3rd, either because we suck/they don’t rate the draft pool/weren’t planning on using it. I’m comfortable with gaining an extra 300+ points this year to give us the best points total to offer Brisbane.

I don't think any of them are our 3rd, so us falling would be irrelevant - it's the teams who they are tied to that will influence the value.

I think there is little chance of getting Brissy's pick for those 3rd rounders, we'd need to add extra - you've got to pay overs in points to move up. Essendon supposedly have a FS. Their 2nd rounder is more realistic value, unless we're willing to add something else to Brisbane.

Essendon have Alwyn Davey Jnr. coming through this year, and is currently projected to be a second round pick. If that’s the case, they may prefer to make a selection at #21 and cobble the points for Davey Jnr. together some other way. :(

Yeah if he's still likely to be in that range, you'd think that they'd hedge their bets and hold off trading it and try to set up a contingency trade for draft night if he does get picked earlier.

Essendon F&S and NGA for 2022:
Alwyn Davey Jnr draft range 15 - 30
Jaydon Davey late (due to second knee reco)
Luca Alessio late to undrafted
Josh Misiti late to undrafted
Anthony Munkara NGA late
Matthew Foley NGA late to undrafted

Rookie Me Central are saying the Collingwood VFL game against the AFL Academy will be okayed this Saturday
Will be great to see some of these likely top 20 picks in November up against our VFL team

Down in Frankston I believe. Just I need to find out the time. I'm sure the afl will release the details at some point this week

Doesnt help. GC has our 2nd and 3rd rounder. Just makes their hand stronger.
