I don’t think we’ve had that much trouble with loyalty over the years, once players are drafted and in our system. We’re all still a bit raw about Ollie - but he was an outlier for us.
Probably why it was such a shock, because players rarely leave us if we want them. Maybe its our ego haha

Interesting rumours. I have some scouting mail that I have sourced myself and they support your findings which are very useful!
  • Busslinger rumour is new, although when I was crafting a phantom draft weeks ago, I had him at that mark. He's a KPP and Geelong would be eager to lure in a young backman. They'll have done their homework on his go home prospects. If Clark hates his new side, they can always target him in 2024.
  • Your top five seems accurate. GWS will take Cadman. It's whether they bid on Ashcroft or not. For me, I hope they bid because the Lions need to pay a fair price for top tier talent.
  • Phillipou said, in an interview with Fox, he'd take himself as the number one selection. Not the worst crime but could indicate poor, self-centred character. If he's available, then I don't see why we shouldn't take him. Character is turning into a very important selection criterion as clubs don't want idiotic kids who do a De Goey on holiday in Bali. Whether or not JDG did anything wrong is up for debate, but the point is he still brought unwanted, media attention that no other player managed to whilst on holidays there.
  • Carlton take Hollands or Hayes - I've heard both rumours.
  • It makes sense for St Kilda to take the kid they've developed - he's in their system.
How have you got from Phillipou that he jokingly said himself means his character is "idiotic" .... You have no idea about his character.

None of this is ‘mail’, it’s just things you’re regurgitating from the media and draft board.

what's the knock on Hustwaite?

They haven't released his highlight video yet.

In all seriousness, he has some very nice traits and moves beautifully in traffic, just doesn't have the wow factor of other players so doesn't get much discussion. Is probably every chance of being as good as the other names talked about because we really don't know, so i wouldn't knock us taking him.

The only proven backs we have are Howe who is on his last legs in my opinion and Moore who was great last year but has been injury prone.
Of the rest, the best was Murphy who has only really looked good for half the season but has had injury issues. Dean hasnt played a game, Frampton has played half a dozen AFL games down back and Kelly who I believe is close to 0 AFL games down back.
We certainly have talls but most are specilative. Im happy to take another good KPP. We only have 2 genuine rucks. 1 is 31 years old. Be happy to get another one.
Why would we add more speculative talls if most of them are already that?

Pendles traits apparantely with the way he moves in traffic and finds space where there shouldn't be any.

He could be available in the second round. Would be a good pickup.

No chance. These so called Eggspurts thinking this kid will be available in the mid 20’s best not give up their day jobs. Unless they are recruiters. Then they deserve to be sacked for incompetence.

If…..the kid is still there at our first pick. Take him and run all the way to the bank.

What will the bank do to help development?

Mitch Lewis was a joke late selection by the Hawks and looks like a top 20 pick now. We need KPP desperately to state the obvious

He wasn’t a joke pick. They had eyes on taking him in the Rookie draft when they caught wind of others doing the same. And they jumped. Just to secure him.

That his name was Mitch Lewis just coincidence….a funny one at that.

Bring home some milk tonight honey.

He was touted as a potential number 1 pick at some stage from memory? Slipped away a bit
prob not number 1, but he was def first round calculations, but then he was overlooked for champs all but 1 game. Couldnt get a league debut, so there was questions if he could deal with bigger bodies. But after U18 were done, he did play some reserves and did alright.

The draft is mostly speculation. But an extra tall is another chance of hitting gold. Our midfield looks good with Mitchell in the line up. Crisp, Adams, DeGoey, Daicos ×2, Lipinski is solid and we have a few speculative players as well Macrae and Carmichael. Our forward line although not star filled is also good all round. Mihocek, McStay are solid consistent performers but our KPFs are not stars. We could use another KPF. McCreery, Ginnivan and Johnson look the goods. Elliott is a star forward and a solid midfielder. We could use another crumber but we have Hill there now. Our back flanks look excellent. Maynard, Pendles, Noble, Daicos, Crisp if needed.
I believe our weakest link is the tall defenders. We need more performers there. We dont have a proven AFL KPD apart from Moore. Howe and Maynard can cover but they are often beaten by the good KPFs. We only have 2 real rucks. Begg is an athlete with a good jump but imo a poor ruck and Coxs is 31.
We have many unproven players who could play tall at both ends but our weakest positions with unproven talent covering it are imo

KPD
Rucks
KPF
Crumbing forwards.

I like Hayes/Keeler in the draft with our first
George/Jones/the kid in Ben Reids side as a forward/mid with our 2nd
Barnett/Lemmy as a ruck/ruck forward with our 3rd pick.

But it wouldnt suprise me to see Hine pick all mids and maybe I have no idea.

Must of shown a glimpse of something special. Hopefully we pull the right rein and land the next Lynch.

Given were in our window how many list spots can we commit to players who won't be relevent for 3+ years? And that without considering every key position player spot in the 22 is filled with a back up in the twos.

I think we need to accept that we’re also a list in transition too. We can’t neglect that fact just because we suddenly find ourselves in a window again. I think at least 2 spots need to be used for those types, obviously KPP’s, as Checkers won’t be there forever, and Kreuger/Johnson are no sure things. The last think we want is for McStay to be our main banana in a few years time because we’ve yet again neglected to develop a proper key forward.

Watch the highlights and you'll see why he's slipped. A bit lumbering and no physicality. He simply looks too tall for his opponents. I can see him right through to the rookie draft

Its when the do it in reserves or even seniors at 18 is when people take more notice. Logan McDonald style. He could still be a player
LM was better than Cadman in his under18 year and he's now been in the system for 3 years and still looks a way off being a gun FF. Only GWS would be desperate enough to take Cadman at pick one. Taking a KF is a risk at the best of times and Scully just doesn't look like he's got much to offer. Anyway, these are just my observations
