If Butts or Murray go down, we are stuffed for KPD. I hope Fish can get his 1st full season under his belt and can show something to the coaching stuff and now without Billy we have no real back up. I sure hope eve if Fish plays in the 2s at is down back as he is not getting in the forward line.

With the monster size forwards these days we are little light on height down there as it is.

That would only matter if we were contending instead of rebuilding. And we could give Berg a crack back there if Fish was still looking awful and we didn’t want to expose him. Plus we played 1 KPD with Doedee next whereas we have Worrell that we’ve woken up to, so it’s not as bad as it was when we actively chose to play with only 1.

I think it depended on what GC's approach was - if they insisted on p5 for Izak and were going to be iceholes about it, splitting p5 would mean we lose the ND threat for getting Izak (really doubt we would go the PSD -Rookie draft- threat).

That’s where the front loading comes in. You still get him at 10 and even a couple further out because you start running into clubs can’t fit the $1.5m into year 1.

If you look at this AFL page - Medical room: The full AFL injury list, R12 (and many other AFL pages) - they refer to inactive lists when (I'd reckon) they're talking about long term injuries.
Article dated 31 May; 5 days earlier, on 26 May, the Club announced that Sloane and Seedsman had been moved to the Inactive list.
Possibly the AFL article hadn't caught up with that.
THIS page from 2010 also refers to Inactive List with a different cause.
Aha, that's more like it, thank you.
The interesting thing about that article is:
"The introduction of an Inactive List, allowing players to take a 12-month leave of absence for exceptional and compelling circumstances, without taking up a list spot."
and
"Clubs may apply for a special ruling that a player can return directly to a club’s list after a one-season absence. The absence would be an unpaid leave of absence, for exceptional and compelling circumstances at the discretion of the AFL Commission or General Manager of Football Operations."

So, 12 month or one-season absence, and unpaid, in "exceptional and compelling circumstances". In Sloane, Seedsman's and Gibbs' cases, I don't think it's unpaid leave, and I wonder if in Sloane's case in particular, where he went on to the list in May, if a full 12 months would be required... Also, is a knee injury "exceptional and compelling" enough to justify use of the Inactive list rather than simply LTI? I suspect they have loosened up a bit since 2010, a bit like the way the rules around the "rookie list" have changed.

Rookie list (if Turner isn’t re-drafted)?
Would take him before turner..

Definitely more upside and a lot longer career left in him than Turner.

Turner wont be around for our next flag campaign.. a young player like Caleb would be (hopefully!)..

That's pretty unbelievable, there has to be more to it, gets plenty of games under Buckley in his rookie season and did pretty well then completely overlooked by McRae whilst playing decent VFL footy all year in only his 2nd season. Very odd.

Who does he replace in their best 22?

Listened to Bickley's interview on 5AA ......my God, he's hopeless in his views on the Crows ....and I listen, as you'd expect, to get a couple of comment nuggets .....nope, just a mish-mash of generic views

His player bias to Sloane showing thru .....no wonder he gave up the thought of AFL Coaching

I agree it is a strange one. If the pies didn't take him at pick 30 as they did I would have jumped on him at 31 instead of Rowe. His VFL this season was good stuff and his dozen games of AFL in his first season I thought he showed more than enough. McRae clear doesn't see it that way ohhh... to be a fly on the wall.

IIRC didn't they trade their 1st next year or something to get the pick to draft him?

It's not always about the here and now, he's only just turned 20, and it's not always about being in the best 22 with young developing footballers.
Sure but Collingwood have a pretty good squad, not sure what his path into the team looks like. They seem well stocked for midfielders

They traded their 2021 first rounder (pick 2) for pick 24 (on traded a couple times) and pick 30.

Essentially they ended up with Poulter (pick 30) , Liam McMahon (Pick 31) and some late picks for their 2021 first (pick 2).

Nope if you go back to Hamish's post draft presser he clearly stated that Keays was to be upgraded onto the main list...if you go to youtube or the club website you'll find it.

Ogilvie said he became a little emotional when he called Nankervis after he was selected.

The Bentleigh product was a retirement present to long-time scout Steve McCrystal, who had been with the Crows for 26 years, including the past nine in recruiting, and had “loved Nankervis from a long way out”.

“That was one we were riding pretty hard,” Ogilvie said.

“We get to send Steve off with one of his favourites, which was very pleasing.”

Adelaide redrafted Ben Davis at pick 4 with its only rookie selection on Friday.

The Crows also upgraded midfielder Ben Keays, who was runner-up in their best and fairest this year, to the senior list.
Earlier, the AFL rejected a pick swap between the Crows and Melbourne at pick 36, when Adelaide ended up taking Soligo.

The league was reported to have knocked back the deal because it was selections they had already dealt during this year’s trade period.

Adelaide traded a 2022 third-rounder with Melbourne so it could get back in the order to take Taylor.

Ogilvie said the club needed to add to its midfield but was not sure it was going to be able to do it on Thursday.

“I know everyone says it but we just didn’t think those two boys would get through to us,” he said.

“We always thought Soligo would go to Richmond and we probably thought Zac Taylor would go to Sydney, then when they were both there together, we kept riding it and got back in to make sure we could at least try to get one of them, if not two.

“It just worked out really, really well for us.”

Taylor can play as a small forward or on the ball, while Soligo has lined up at half-back, half-forward and in the middle.

Both won the best-and-fairests at their NAB League clubs this year.

“They’re not just one-position mids, they can play other spots,” Ogilvie said.

“Soligo is just pure football skill, genuine mid, more hard running power.

“Zac has got some speed – his speed’s lateral movement, the ability to get out.”
Reid mentioned before the draft last year that Keays was moving to senior list

I remember that verbal statement too. I just can’t find any AFL evidence that it actually happened. Keays is not recorded on the 2021 list of Rookie Upgrades. Maybe Nankervis ending up on the Senior List via the PSD instead of the Rookie List as originally expected threw a spanner in the works at the last minute.

Doesn’t matter, we’ll find out soon enough one way or the other. If I’ve got it wrong, I’ll suspend myself for 100 days for incompetence and over-analysis.

The article I posted clearly states that he was upgraded, no if's or but's.

He no longer has the (R) on Footywire either.

End of this presser Hamish states it...
