Is there ANY chance we rookie list Poulter?????

We have two spots, but I can't see us being too interested seeing it doesn't fit a list niche, as we have a fair few flankers.

If we go down the recycling route, it's probably going to be a RCD or Liam Stocker as our attempt to find a Will Brodie type (i.e. talented big bodied mid who's stalled) to help push up the table next year.

We have 2 rookie positions... but one of them is likely to be required for re-drafting the senior player who gets delisted, to allow us room for a 2nd ND selection. The other is likely to be used to re-draft Turner.

So, arguably, the answer is no.

have they committed to this? I can't say I have seen anything to confirm
Committed to it? No. They did say that it was likely to happen though, in the media release when Rowe/Davis/Turner were delisted.

I suspect it would take a "too good to be true" player falling into our laps for them to change their minds. For example, the decision to grab Nankervis in the PSD last year, rather than hope he survived to our pick in the RD.

Re-drafting a delisted senior player is something I expect to happen, however considering that we didn't flag that we were committed to redrafting Turner (which is usually our M.O. in these situation, instead we went for "consider it"), I don't think it's likely we'll end up picking him in the rookie-draft. That one just seems like we opted for an extra piece to try to jag a SANFL flag. Not something I'm fundamentally against, seeing I could imagine an early flag would create a more solid jell between our kids and the club.

At most we have 1 rookie list position available. See my previous post for comments on their level of commitment.

End of this presser Hamish states it...

You are all most likely right and I’m wrong ….. but that was before the unexpected pick of Nankervis in the PSD. I recognise it wouldn’t look get to have someone in the Leadership Group on the Rookie List.

If he did get upgraded as Ogilvie planned during last year’s draft, then some admin type at AFL house must have forgot to add him to the rookie upgrade list for media purposes.

Here's an AFL media release, with the team lists as of the Nov 29th 2021 List Lodgement (after the ND/PSD/RD, but before the PSSP). Note that Keays is in the senior list, not Cat A rookie:
Every club's full AFL list after November 29 deadline

Nobody forgot anything. He's 100% on our senior list, and has been for the last 11 months.

You'd hardly put a rookie in the leadership group might be a bit of a hint too...LOL

Phillipou is another one we’re going to regret if we don’t trade up and get him. He’s exactly what we need and he’s a South Australian.
I hope that is not the case. However it looks highly likely he won't be a Crow # fills a urgent need for us. My gut tells me will will regret not picking him when he is tearing it up in enemy colours. I personally want us to leave n stone unturned in looking to get back into the pointy end of this draft. What gets him pick 8-13?

I’m happy to have Rankine, but not having pick 5 anymore sucks. We need this guy.
I think we’ll live trade on the night if he gets to a pick where our future first is tempting for someone
If we’re keen on Phillipou

We'll need our 2023 1st in 2023, given the number of players we have coming out of contract - many of whom won't (shouldn't) be on our list in 2024.

Rankine was our top level recruit for 2022. Don't expect another, or you will be disappointed.

I’m still shaking my head how we are so tight for list spots this year and have so many out of contract for next year.

What the * are they doing with that whiteboard?
I reckon by the end of the 2023 season, of those 19 OOC that number will be cut down to about 6 OOC (McPherson, Hately, McAsey, Crouch, Murphy and Seedsman).

Trigger happy with some contracts.

Also, perhaps need a better spread of when players come out of contract.

I think next year we have half coming out of contract, so shouldn't have the same problem!
