Reality is that we're a club that believes that we're in an amongst it and only need a couple of tweaks at the fringe. We'd not try and force Sloane out to get JHF, we'd believe that a straight swap would destroy our club. Our performance requirement is to let ROB cruise to a dropping after half a year of puss and then play 1 game of high input at the lower level and then get locked in till the same time next year.

This is us, our morons believe that the group we already have plus swapping pick 5 for a talented forward pocket completes the rebuild. All planning is around finishing 8th next year. That is us and it won't change until every single skerrick of Neil's legacy is excised from the place. You can't win without talent Neil, that's the lesson that we learned from our flags.

You really are fixated on Neil Craig an unhealthy amount. He is over a decade removed from the place - the club has moved on, perhaps you should too. At least speak to a therapist or something

Good news for Freo, and good luck this weekend, stick it up the Vics.

It's a fake trade idea. I'm not sure other clubs rate Doedee anywhere near what we do.

You will find the biggest underestimates on what Doedee is worth on the Adelaide BF forum.

Most other supporters see a 25 year old brave, quick, good overhead defender with all the leaderships traits clubs love.

People on here see him as trade bait.

Can we see him as both?..

I reacon he’s a brave, quick and good overhead defender… but I also see him as easily replaced… thus I see him as trade bait too..

You might but the better informed at the club don't share that view quite obviously, rightly so IMO.

Good, solid player with leadership skills. Is not elite though (has never gone close to winning AA or a BnF) and is injury prone. Is also a FA next year, and we'll likely only get a second round pick as compo.

Then everyone is trade bait. It's a mistake we all make ... the lure of what we could get if we give up some quality.

The comments around Doedee have severely under-rated him imo.

As I have said elsewhere, I made the same mistake around JHF - thinking we could cover Rachele after we get Rankine, so why not swap one for the other.

I'm much more on the train of building on what we have already brewing rather than trying to leap-frog / short cut all in one hit with a massive single trade.

We have some quality coming through in the ranks, we have some trade wins coming in, our culture is changing, our off-field has improved enormously - let's keep the momentum going and build for 2024.

Because it's the silly season - an idea.

Is there anyway we might be able to convince St Kilda to trade for ROB?
With Ryder retiring, they might be interested.

What about pick 5 and ROB, for pick 9, NWM and Max Heath?

Pick 9 then becomes the Rankine trade. Strachan becomes #1 ruck and Heath the back up.

For pick 5 and ROB, we get Rankine, Wanganeen-Milera and a developing ruck.

For pick 9, Wanganeen-Milera and a developing ruck, St. Kilda get to upgrade their pick to top 5, and a #1 ruck option.

Win-win? Terrible idea?

Doubt the Saints will do that.

ROB’s contract is just too big, and even then I doubt it.

Exactly why would they with Rowan Marshall an excellent ruck, a developing ruck Max Heath and and a break glass option in Tom Campbell who han't been delisted yet has he? The SA lad they drafted last year Oscar Adams played plenty of ruck along with key defence for the Bays U18's side.

Well, they've seemed to prioritise having two rucks every chance they could, so it's not crazy to think they may want to do it - and despite our board protestations, ROB is still a top ten ruck in the AFL.

Personally, you'd hope they'd realise that hasn't been a success and they bet all on Marshall leading their ruck.

Sometimes you have to believe ......give some of these late developers time .....Sinclair was near on 25 YO and in his 6th season of AFL .....went from plodder to AA within 2 years

Not everyone gets it straight away !

The funny thing is Neil and Nicks coached nothing alike

Neil used to play huge numbers thru midfield

Guys like Roo , Edwards , McLeod , Goodwin regularly played large minutes outside of centre square in other roles

Neil was quite innovative for his time , the team always lacked key position talent and was basically a team of 15 midfielders

The only similarity I can see is occasional stubbornness but most coaches have that

There is no Neil Craig ghost at the crows haha

You'd think so, but then they did play Campbell in the last round for some reason.
