I actually think they are both A graders, not elite but a step up in our team. Both a stuck behind preferred mids, probably at least in part because they can actually go forward and score.

Oh I agree, but even some of our covid pool players would get a gig before Doedee.

Sorry to rain on your memories but our first game was against Hawthorn which unexpectedly we won. Seem to remember the catchphrase as .....Get some Hawk on your fork.

Like a lot of things at the club, everyone else can see it, except for the coaches
With our plethora of defenders, it isn't like we wouldn't have a replacement for a back pocket
Club ethos, must play first round draft selection anywhere except midfield, preferably backlines

i remember we were the only 2 that thought this pre-draft. I said he was our next Stenglein, which of course got shut down pretty quickly on here by most.

Why not forward too?

Played most of his footy for St. Joeys in the schools comp up forward and it was only when the Geelong Falcon's Talent Manager in the TAC Cup U18's comp Mick Turner swung him down back in his top age year that he got noticed eventually earning a spot down back for Vic Country at that year's Nationals.

And LOL to those that reckon they had Doedee pegged as a mid pre-draft....I'd be amazed if his name was even mentioned on our board until draft night.

Doedee is no chance of midfield. Contrary to your take, I see him as slow and ponderous, with no agility whatsoever.
He is a tough, straight-line player, unsuited to midfield.

I am perplexed by the habit of many here to convert players to midfielders. The best solution is to either trade an A-grade pure midfielder, or draft a good prospect who actually plays midfield, not halfbacks of halfforwards.
