It really does make sense, if Richmond are losing Dusty they can afford Bowes salary next year and the need 7 to trade with GWS.
Plus the AFL would have no problem with 7 & Bowes for dusty, GC might need to chuck in a second as well

It does make sense except, how do GC take on Dusty's salary if the need to get Bowe's salary off the books?

I know as fans we want Freo to win every trade, but if Logue and Lobb are worth high picks because of what their new clubs are offering / or Freo's offer needed to be beaten by theirs. Then the opposite is true no? That Freo saw Acres worth not much at all and therefore at the trade table he would be valued accordingly?
Why should we do any club a favor?

Acres can go to the draft. Seriously a late F3 is useless to us.

Think it was you who said Narkle was soft too based on your observations. Compared him to Henry. Literally only one thing where you could make that comparison, but this ain’t the Hawks past coaches thread…

I’ll maintain that Narkle may be many things, including not on an AFL list, but he ain’t soft… not by usual standards.

But I agree with Schache.
Narkle is a different kind of soft imo. I don't think I've seen him tackle once in a game I've seen play. Maybe you consider that something other than soft but its not good either way.

Schache seems to be scared of physical contact.

Brisbane are cuckoo. Don't they need the McStay compo pick to get enough points for their F/S? They ain't getting good compo if they bring in their own FA.
Notwithstanding the fact they need a better backline not forwardline. Unless they think they'll play Gunston back, which the hawks did occasionally do

Weller wasn't worth pick #2 either.

If they have a fifth leg over Lobb like it's made out then given they will get more picks for Dunkley they can afford to move out their current best pick.

It can be rationalised as #11 and Dunkley for #15 and Lobb + whatever else they can get from Brisbane

Weller was worth pick 2 to gold coast. It was actually a win/win.

What compensation do you think Hawthorn would expect for Gunston as a near 31 year old?

They can trade for him for a token late pick.

There’s a massive difference between a second round and third round pick IMO.
Third rounders are basically pick 40 onwards, AT BEST.
Often the third round goes to pick 56.
Since the mid season draft, only about 55 players are selected and hence third rounder are worth less.
Back in the days when 78 players were picked in the ND, a round 3 pick was worth more.
100%.

Third round picks is new fourth round picks.

They are pretty useless unless you needs points.

Well when you compared him to Henry I made an assumption as to what kind of soft you meant. The sort that will shy away from a contest, wait for the outside ball etc.

Narkle is an inside mid. I think he’s hard at the ball, but yeah defensively he’s a liability.

I understand our brand and Longmuirs demands, but sometimes a skilled mid who can just create or a small forward who occasionally cheats offensively wouldn’t be the worst.

Anyway, I still think Narkle will be a huge chance until it isn’t.

I'd say Gunston will get the Hawks a third rounder, which will dilute the second rounder they'd otherwise get for McStay

Thing is I didn’t see Narkle as hard at the contest either - maybe not scared of contact but not hard at the contest.

Anyway I think you’ve got be tall or very very good to get away with being so bad defensively. Narkle is neither.

I don’t think Narkle would be of any consideration for us tbh. I just don’t think he’s good enough even for depth and don’t think he suits our style much either.
