Our window is over? If our core stays together, we will just need to plug a few holes. Recycling good players into picks has set us up for an extended run.
Agreed, we will have a long window with our core being so young, we should be targeting a Tabs replacement in this years draft unless we have faith that Treacy will fill that role.

What’s your definition of a dickhead? Jesse Hogan was an A grade flog.

A person that likes a bit of stuff up the nose and one too many vodka lime sodas? We have a few but who cares.

But two players who rarely drink, set good examples and are just a level above the others - Fyfe & Brayshaw.

But im too old for this s**t, I just get info from my sisters friend who brags about her body count.
body count?
She an assassin?

Agree but need to be realistic also, freo don’t have the draft capital to get McDonald at this stage, they do for Neale
They should get in JVR's ear and suggest he not get out of second gear in Melbourne's VFL side next season. Could nab him for a 2024 future pick.

Was very highly rated alongside Amiss, Erasmus and Johnson last year.

The genie's already well on truly out of the bottle with van Rooyen and Melbourne. Word is they've got big wraps for how he's been going so far and it'd take more than one ordinary season next year to devalue his stocks.

Im not sure JVR is the type we need tbh. Neither him nor Amiss are the big contested marking number 1 targets we need. McDonald (if he filled his potential) and Naughton (who’s not as tall as we want but has the leap and hands to make up for it) are probably more up out alley

Well I am not sure whether either are on our radar.

My point is the rucking doesn't matter anymore. Who the guy actually is, I have NFI. There is still a decent chance Treacy is the guy or its some dude from one of the next 3 drafts that we don't know anything about yet.

If we get Tippa as a SSP train on then - if he’s committed - we could consider bringing in Stack to prove himself at the same time.

Would we even have the trade capitol for either of these guys next year? We would definetly have to lose a player of note I feel if we went after Mcdonald or Naughton

Peter Wright? Out of contract end of 2023. He’s 26. Won’t need to wait to develop.

Throw the absolute book at him? Bombers a bit all over the place.

Would give us 5 years whilst in window. Amiss will continue to develop. Taberner will likely be on last legs over next 2 years.

He’s my biggest target.

No, as we just saw with Jackson, it's hard enough getting these guys out of contract, in contract is impossible essentially.

Needs to be a quieter trade year next year before hopefully bring in Naughton or McDonald the year after

I've scratched around and found a few 'hidden gems' who MIGHT be around our pick just for a bit of interest.

Pick 30
Ed Allen (mid/wing) - Draft bolter. Probably a bit of a long shot to get to 30, but we could pull another 'Johnson'.
Darcy Jones (mid/for) - Talented and skilful mid/forward who is a chance to be around our pick due to his (lack of) size.
Max Gruzewski (utility) - Looks equally as comfortable forward and back. I was a bit late to the Gruzewski party, but he has AFL traits.
Jed Hagan (utility) - Can literally play anywhere. I've been a big fan for a while.

Pick 44
Jaxon Binns (wing/for) - It might be wishful thinking at 44, but fills an area of need.
Harry Lemmey (KPF) - Draft slider due to injury and illness. Was hit hard by Covid, which completely derailed his year.
Jackson Broadbent (ruck) - Sliding in rankings due to injury and lack of exposure. BOG in the Colts GF and named starting ruck Colts team of the Year. Ready-to-go at 201cms/100kgs. For those who love stats, Broadbent had 51 hitouts in Round 14. No, that's not a typo.
Liam Brandis (sm/m forward) - Mercurial forward from South Freo. Kicked a whopping 33.17 this year.

Pick 67
Tyrell Dewar (sm/m forward) - West Coast NGA, so there's a hurdle there. Skilful, speedy forward with a bit of brilliance.
Anthony Mankara (gen forward) - Lit up the Academy game V Collingwood, but has struggled for consistency since. Huge upside and can be a matchwinner.
Hugh Davies (KPD) - stood up at the Carnival for WA when Busslinger went down. Looked comfortable being the main man down back.
Jed Adams (KPD) - Local hero who would develop as cover for Pearce and Cox

Pick 76
Jasper Scaiff (KPD) - the man they call 'superboot'. Freo NGA. An exciting, athletic prospect with an enormous kick.

We traded for a 199cm, 100kg, mobile player. Leading patterns and timing can be taught.

He would be perfect for our list, right age also between Tabs and the young guys

Won’t Naughton be a free agent soon? I think that’s how we get him as a replacement for tabs.

Is Logan a contested marker either? Always seen him as a leading forward like Amiss. Although I was impressed at Amiss' contested marking this year. Improved since Colts imo. Think it is a pipe dream to get either McDonald or Naughton coming our way over the next couple of years.

I don't think either are any better than Category B prospects tbh and we probably need to use the senior list and Category A rookie list spots to ensure we've got enough depth in other areas.

Both Scaife and Draper would spend all year in the WAFL Reserves and not add to our depth. As much as we can't expect too much from 18 year old draftees I'd like to think they're good enough to be in line for a game in the event of an injury crisis. Scaife and Draper wouldn't be an option for Ross Lyon in Round 23, 2015.

My preference would be to list Kelm from Ireland with one of our Category B spots tbh. I'd probably only list whoever is considered the best prospect of the two tbh.

I'm not convinced 18 year old KPFs will help us win a premiership tbh - unless they're Amiss level they won't he ready until our window is over.
Think the difference with Scaife and Draper over past NGA Cat Bs we've taken is their size. Scaife is apparently 197cm these days, so a really good size to build body mass onto. Long shot to make it but he is free, and don't see much downside for him or the club if he develops at Peel over the next year or two.

Draper is pushing 195cm and isn't as scrawny as Scaife. I think if we are keen on Draper we aren't looking at him as a KPF. He is athletic enough to play anywhere. I've always thought he'd end up as a winger if he can build his tank enough. National junior basketballer that I suspect will perform extremely well at the State combine. If not for injuries this year I think he would be rated a lot higher. Also a long shot to make it but his athletic profile fits an AFL footballer.

I think he’s certainly got the height and size required to be a number 1 option. It’s all projection with him still as he’s only shown glimpses at Sydney.

I don’t think either are pipe dreams, I think we would be half a chance at one of them and I think they’d be priority number 1 for Walls. Pretty sure some were saying Jackson was a pipe dream during Melbournes premiership year

True with Jackson, and JOM as well. Possible (McDonald/Naughton) but you can't ever assume imo, so until either is on our list I'd continue planning as if they won't be. I think we will look back on prying Jackson out of Melbourne as a massive achievement in a few years time. Just have to look at the free agency lists over the coming years to see how much clubs value KPFs and talls. Be good if GC and GWS would draft more WA talls.

We don't need to use a first round pick until 2025 where we will need to take two. It's not ideal for talent, but drafting Amiss and Erasmus in 2021 means we meet the two picks in four years requirement all the way through 21, 22, 23 and 24.

So we will be able to trade our future first end of next season if required.
