Trade radio (I know I know) reckon Melbourne have failed looking at a few key forwards to come in, and have started looking at Lobb.

Would make this trade a lot easier.

Good chance the $1m a yr quoted is probably accurate for 2024 and 2025 with the rest of the years much much less. We have a bit of space in those years after Fyfes current contract is up. lobb prob off the books and mundy retired and before Andy, Caleb, Youngie are due for a new (prob massive) contracts. All up surprised if its more than 700per. Works well for jackson coz he gets his money relatively early and gets to come home.

Haven't we been burnt by a couple of players where we front-loaded their contracts, then when the lesser years came around they left for more money elsewhere (Neale, Hill)? I would have thought an incentive based contract would be far easier to craft to keep him happy and keep him at the club long term.

I think you need to factor in that he was already contracted for next year and like Switkowski I suspect he has shifted some of the contracted money for 2023 into 2026
