Each to their own but I don't understand the references to where a player has been picked in the draft. Once they're on the list and playing I judge them simply as an AFL listed player.

Fair but by that token I think he's still shown enough to date given the usual development trajectory of KPFs, regardless of draft position.

Clearly though, someone taken in the rookie draft as a speculative pick has a higher chance of having more flaws in their game and fewer weapons at their disposal initially than a Max or Ben King for example.

For sure, the odds are in the favour of early picks being better players but there are plenty of exceptions and certainly no guarantees, so in my mind it's best to judge on performance alone.

I agree that Treacy has done well and shown good signs so early in his career which highlights the point - you didn't need to use the rookie list reference (imo) just second year and KP development trajectory would've been enough to make the point. However, I do respect your choice to do so.

If you're near 2m tall, can take a mark and know which end of the leg to hit the ball with you barely need to be able to run to get picked before the rookie draft.

It used to be if you were 205cm you didn't even need to be able to mark or kick, barely even run to get on an AFL list

What do you mean “used to” Scache still listed isn’t it ? 😂

Very very average game to Jackson tonight. Really hope we are not paying the 1 mill a season for him. Really could backfire

Had a revelation. Why the **** should we trade Lobb to where he wants. This mother****er is contracted. If he wants to go to VIC u go where we say mother****er.

I think if we stick to selling our 1st rd and maybe a later pick for Jacko.

We can turn Lobb into Zurharr as well as getting a little bit back.

If we have an eye on specific talent we trade out a future pick to get back into this year.

Rory is contracted. He chooses the state, we choose the team. Fairly sure Cerra wanted to go to Dees, but Carlton was gonna offer us more.

Jackson with Zurharr sounds a bit better than just Jackson by himself.

We can’t afford Angus Brayshaw and need him less. Our fwd line with an aging injured Tabs, Wantaway Lobb, Victorian second year blues Treacy and young skinny Amiss is an issue.

We can absolutely afford Angus and we definitely need him.

Is there a world that we don't trade 2 first for Jackson? I bloody hope so.
Problem is we will likely have two late first rounders this year and next. This as compared to say Cerra, Hogan, Brad Hill, Neale.

Each of the above trades were a pick 6 and second/third (current or future). Our two firsts (2022 and 2023) will likely be say 15 and 16 (maybe worse). Then with F/s and any compo 15 and 16 might get pushed back a little.

Lobb is the key in my opinion. If Melbourne want him as part of a trade then we may get away with one first round pick and some change along with Lobb.

If Bulldogs are as keen as the media seem to say they are it will involve a trade similar to what we have to get him. Pick 11/12, pick in 20’s > 14/15 or straight swap for Bulldogs F1 (they can have something late back).

1. Lobb , F1 > Jackson, change (and later 2022 pick); we retain our 2022 first and later picks for 2022, retain F2nd/3rd
2. Pick 11/12, F1 > Jackson, change (and F2); we only have late picks 2022 but two F2nds and F3rd
3. Pick 14/15, F1 > Jackson, change (and F3); we only have late picks 2022 but F1st, F2nd, F3rd

Now that Bulldogs look likely to finish top 8 and who knows how high they climb, scenario two seems less likely by the day. If Bulldogs finish in the bottom part of the eight then likely we won’t bother with that small upgrade.

Best outcome is if Melbourne decide they could do with Lobb, which watching them more recently he is exactly the sort of player they do need in there F50 and then to give Max Gawn a chip out.

Here's the path I hope we go down.

Lobb Trade:
Lobb and 15 to WB for 11 and 37

Jackson Trade
11 and F1 for Jackson, 35 and 53

Brayshaw FA

Draft
35, 37, 53, 72

Keep Meek
