Its really odd.

Lobb is a way better fit for them then Jackson is. Their biggest weakness is literally a key forward and with losing Jackson they have a big hole for that second ruck position.

However it seems their solution is going to be trying to turn Gawn into the forward/ruck and using Grundy as a pure ruck.

I think they do but they are keeping their cards close to their chest because as a contracted player it puts the whip in our hand.

No way Eagles make a play for Jackson. Their cap is ****ed as it is and they have other glaring holes in their list they need to make priority. What is the point in bringing in an A grade ruckman when there is no decent midfield to hit it too. Also why would he want to move to a team who will be rebuilding for 4+ years? (I've seen WC fans saying they're be playing finals in 2-3 years )

Finally Jackson is a freo fan.

He is younger than May and Gawn. If they are realistic, they would accept they only have 1 or 2 more years to win a flag, and then it will be a decade in the wilderness. They aren't Geelong (who have still gone 10 years without a flag). Lobb provides them the absolute best chance of a flag out of the options available.

They also get some salary cap space, with the pies paying a significant portion of Grundy's salary.

Rumoured to be around 300k/season.

This is almost exactly what we're trying to do, just in reverse.

IMO you never want your ruckman to be near your top paid players. Too many teams have shown that an above average ruck will suffice.

It's not playstation so we can't do it but If some team offered us a top 10 pick for Darcy I'd take it and give Meek the full time spot.

We should go after Georgiades ,the eagles apparently are interested and he'll likely be another Kennedy for them.
We have never had a real gun long term full forward.
