Do you think we'll get better for Logue? I'm expecting not much

I'd rather nothing for him, TBH. But, I am in what I am assuming is a small minority that thinks Zurhaar is utter shit.

Mate I don't know where you get off dissing Kepler. Have you watched his highlights?
FFS he could side step Judd and slam home a goal on the run.
Take a good look at yourself.

:p

I think if Kepler stays fit in 2013 and plays the GF ahead of Zach Clarke we win, but it's fair to say he was a role player and no superstar.

This whole Logue situation has me feeling resentment towards him. I know I shouldn't, as I have no idea as to the permutations of the situation, nor do I even know whether he has balked at a contract offer. It's just how we rationalise things as human beings! Hahaha

How often do players request a trade 2 years in a row and it doesn't happen? The AFL know that restraint of trade wouldn't hold up in court, Lobb is gone.
He won't request it. I like to think we make it clear to him that he won't be going under any circumstances. If he throws a sook and sits out then other clubs aren't gonna give him the money he wants. I'd rather keep him and contend for another year than sell him for slightly more and push us back in contention.

I've come to peace with the potential player movements. Clearly the list management team are thinking about sustained success for the next 10 years, not win-at-all-costs now. Ultimately, the core is probably Darcy, Brayshaw, Serong, Frederick, Switta, Walters, Amiss, O'Driscoll, Walker, Young, Chapman, Clark, Cox, Pearce, Jackson (and hopefully Erasmus and Johnson). That's 15-17 players who we just need to replace 1-by-1 over the next 10-15 years. The next 10 players after that can be a bit more of a revolving door. The focus has to be on retaining the core.

100% this. Every team would love to keep every player but that’s not how the game is played. Our list is so stacked we’re gonna have to pay them all eventually. Prioritize the core and get role players in that are relatively cheap. I think it’ll be an interesting trade period this year.

Something I was told mid-season was Logue was worried about losing his spot and the uncertainty of his role within the team. If Tabs & Fyfe are fit right now do you think Logue holds his spot?

I would argue yes. His pressure for a tall is crazy good. I will say this though. He is not worth a 600k contract

I don’t think he’s best 22 next season. I really don’t. Taberner, Jackson and Amiss should be our three KPFs. If one of them is injured then Treacy comes in. Sturt is also an option. Pearce and Cox are our two KPDs. Logue doesn’t have good enough skills to play as a third tall. Whilst he’s a great match up for say Curnow or Cameron that’s maybe three games a season - What about the rest?

What we should be asking as fans is:
  • Should we be paying a player who’s number 18-25 on our list the sort of money that is being reported?
  • Is Freo the best opportunity for Logue’s career going forward?

For me the answer to both questions is No. I’ll be disappointed if he leaves but won’t hold it against him.

Still got hope for Treacy and Sturt. Both still very young. Freo spent 6 years of development on Logue, I think another year these two will come into their own.

Treacy played a few games at the start of the year and showed a bit. Good size and great kick. Doesn’t run under the ball like Logue. Natural forward.

Players in their first or second year in a finals team don't have any right to sook about not getting opportunities.
It's not about sooking. Most players want to (a) have long careers and (b) play.

If you are a high end draft pick, why do you want to spend crucial years of your career kicking the dew?

Especially if someone else comes calling offering a long term future.
