IN: Boyd, Kennedy, Martin, Kemp
OUT: Cottrell, Newnes, Motlop, Weitering (Inj :cryv1:), Carroll (Sub)

Depends what we get in the MSD, might make further changes...

FB: Stocker - Young - Plowman
HB: Saad - Kemp - Docherty

MID: O’Brien - Cripps - Boyd
FOL: De Koning, Walsh, Hewett

HF: Fisher - Silvagni - Owies
FF: Durdin - Curnow - Kennedy

I/C: Newman - Martin - Cerra - Dow
Williamson (sub)

Need to be patient with Marchbank, give him time to get back through the VFL or we could lose him for good...

Cottrell - Got his ass handed to him by Sidebottom today... Sidebottom was one of the most influential players on the ground...
Newnes - Shank kicking and weak defensively back to the two's...
Motlop - Had a block of games, did ok... Needs to get stronger and learn to stick tackles...
Weitering - :cryv1::cryv1::cryv1:
Carroll - Had a block of games, did ok... Looks tired and lacking any ferocity... Time for a spell in the two's...

I'll try and get my official preview up tomorrow. But until then I'll leave you with this thought.

Losing to the Pies always sucks, but we are % off third while Richmond, Collingwood and * are all outside the top 8.

Oh, and * is a win behind 15th on the ladder!

Have a great week, y'all...

Who is though?

He does play taller, is strong and has great acceleration.

Kemp, Parks and Plowman aren't really any taller.

Wrong thread I know but I’d be happy to pick up Radavanic. If young goes down we are proper screwed. We need cover. He and Durdin would be handy

Voss mentioned marchbank as a possibility which is interesting. He has played 2 games (admittedly 3/4 and a half) so at least has had some match practice/touch. Train him hard over the break and it might be a good idea.

Sounds like Kemp will definitely come in as a backman

I read recently Crippa rates Marchy as a virtual superstar, which is no surprise given what he showed early and he’s been very good in his cameos this year in the 2’s.

I like Kemp but, in the circumstances, wouldn’t be sad to see Marchy rushed back instead - we just have to trust the conditioning powers of AR on this one

Kemp forward, Marchbank back, if the latter is fit.

Young on Wright, Marchbank on Jones, Doc intercepting. Play an extra behind the ball at all times when 6-6-6 isn't active, but make it one of the wings as opposed to one of the flanks; get Durdin to push up and play that wing/HHF creative role, Motlop to hold his position deep as front and centre, and Owies as pressure forward. Ideally, Honey would be ready to take Motlop's place, but don't think he is; we need pressure from that position.

It's a more interesting game than it was two/three weeks ago, but let's be clear; the bye comes at precisely the right time. All injuries now have two weeks unencumbered to recover; those whose injuries will go longer can take two weeks from that time. While McDonald, Williams, McGovern, Pittonett, Parks are all out long term, Cuningham, Ed Curnow, Mirkov, Marchbank, Martin, Kennedy all are potentially available and Harry's 3-5 weeks from returning. They, on the other hand, have been poor the entire season.

We have two weeks to recalibrate that defense into something that can function reasonably as either a defensive back half or an attacking pivot. Essendon's forward line becomes a stress test for that makeshift structure. They should be winning the ruck against Silvagni/TDK, but we should be able to expose Draper/Phillips around the ground for speed, marking and leap to bring the ball to ground.

Let's put it this way: there are no ideals with this many players out and list sizes decreased. It's genuinely pretty funny the degree to which each additional AFL rule change - the decreased interchange, the removal of runners, the implementation of GC and GWS taking all first round draft picks for 6 years, the removal of FS's, the reduction of list size - has been just as we've been in a position to use that specific rule; we went from old and fit to young and needing preseasons in legs juuuust as the AFL initially placed a cap of 120 on interchange; we were rising in 2008-10 juust as the expansion clubs knicked all the talent; we had a number of FS's coming up, with more coming still, but now the bidding rules have changed; the second interchange cap, brought in last season, just as Cripps bulked up; the removal of runners hurting young sides in need of coaching just as we brought in Bolton; and now the reduction of list size as we're decent now meaning that we couldn't retain Levi or the other talls we delisted because we needed to delist someone in order to get to 38. We in essence have to find something that functions as per our regular game plan, or throw out the thing we've been playing all season due to lack of personnel. Kemp to FF isn't ideal, Marchbank coming straight in isn't ideal, but we need to do something.

They're going to smell the blood in the water, and they're going to fire their best shot. They need the win, and we look vulnerable. That said, if Stringer isn't there their midfield does not work, and if Wright is held - and Young's had a few good weeks - they lack options to score. Curnow should be too strong, fast, smart for their defenders, and Kemp is a similar sort of mercurial. Our mids should feel shamed by how they lost against Collingwood, and Kennedy should be back in.

All things being equal, we were limping along a bit for the last three weeks. We were going to slip one of GWS, Sydney, Collingwood. We should be beating Essendon, and if things go well we could genuinely thump them.

Carlton by around 20 points.

Where's Wlliamson at anyone that watched the 2's on the weekend can he come in as a third tall forward option or a winger?

Did Setterfield/Kemp do anything to warrant a recall?

The reason I ask is they are all over 190cm and we are screaming out for taller options around the ground.

Did they do enough to get a recall?

Cheers for any feedback.

Kemp Martin Kennedy in

Weiters Motlop Carrol, possibly Cottrell out

Think Newnes stays for now, we were too young and inexperienced yesterday and it showed

Wheels will come off if we lose this one

yeah not sure where we'd be without those experienced turnovers from newnes in the first half, his first half was deplorable 🤣
