The reason we are scared is our 1st, 2nd and 3rd team is 8-3.

We are trotting out half a vfl side...AND were still competitive against good sides.

Incredibly impressive but the wheels will fall off before long...until we get our spine back.
please don't talk tosh on other people's behalf - scared? fmd........

Great story... Sam Durdin. 30 years from now:

Tell us a story from your footy playing days Grandpa! Please, Please...

Well, alright. My career started kind of well, I was picked up early and for the first year or so, I thought I'd be playing for many years in the AFL. It seems to come to you easy when you're young, but life throws up some curve balls. Then...
(Sam, stares into the distance and his eyes become glassy)

What Pa Pa what?

Well, things happen and before I knew it I was playing in front of 3000 people at Glenelg Oval in Black and Gold.

Ughh... sounds rough pa pa.

It was, it was.

So...

Hmmm, sorry, where was I... I got a call from a bloke called Nick, who said he was from the Carlton Football Club. He said 10 days from now you will play in front of 80,000 people. I told him BULLSHIT and hung up.

Grandpa!

Sorry little one...
But then, as luck would have it I was on a flight to Melbourne to meet my new team-mates at Princes Park real quick, I played that very week!

Is that the game you made drug cheats cry?

Oh, little fella, they tried every trick in the book but try as they might, they just couldnt catch us.

So you got to sing the famous song... da da da da da...

I did, I did, and not for the last time either.

Night, boys and girls...

Sam, Sam and Sam will almost definitely play in this game, but Sam won't.

A chance that Will will, Will won't, Willo won't and Willo unlikely.

Durd in, to join Durdin.

Jack's a gun but Jack needs a VFL run, Jack's back but Jack's been called a hack.

Lochie's probably a lock, but Lachie maybe not, and Lachie's lost the plot.
My 12 year-old daughter and I have bets every week about whether the Jack's can out-score the Sam's.

That final shot on goal last week would have been so sweet...

I'd be surprised if they bring Durdin straight in. I think they give Kemp first crack at Weiters position even if a little undersized. Essendon only have the one monster in Wright who Young can cover.

Give Durdin a couple of weeks to settle and learn the game plan and unleash him against Richmond, Fremantle, StKilda who we will need him for.
In a time of need the only thing he will instructed to do is nullify the opposition key forward, mark or spoil and kick it wide. The game plan will be left to the others.

ins Philp, Kennedy, kemp, Martin
Outs newnes, Carroll, Weiters, Dow

Philp to play as the sub.

3 words…

Four quarter performance.

Think both Hayes and Durdin play this game, alongside Kennedy and probably Martin.

In: Durdin, Hayes, Kennedy, Martin
Out: Weitering, Cottrell, Carroll, Motlop

Handy additions, should be enough to beat *.

Curious to see if we'll play Martin...reports were he didn't do much in his VFL game? And was overlooked for the Collingwood match.

I think we're a better team with him in, but coaches might want to see more effort from Martin.

Certainly adds some class to our forward line, which was lacking last week. Agree.

I was watching AFL360 and how Neal Bullen is used to cover Petracca, maybe Hayes can be used in this high half forward role. I've noticed this year we're allowing Cripps to drift forward and pushing a forward back to cover his moves.

The best part of Hayes is his ability to play midfield and he did not look lost on the inside either. I could see him doing the leg work covering for Cripps to run forward. Playing that Lambert role from Richmond back in the day.

As Arrow said, if you’re picking a 27 year old in Hayes you’re picking him to play. And unless Durds stinks it up on the track, he’s sure to get a game as well.

For me it’s

In: Durdin, Hayes, Kennedy, Martin

Out: Weitering, Motts, Cotts, Newnes (with one of Cotts or Newnes as the super-sub).

I’d give Dow another week. He and Kennedy can rotate through the forward line and midfield. Both provide a different look.

I’d be tempted to bring in Marchbank for Plow or Stock, but I’d actually like to see him complete a VFL game.

B: Stocker Young Plowman
HB: Saad Kemp Docherty
C: Newnes Cripps O'Brien
HF: Martin Silvagni Owies
F: Durdin Curnow Fisher
OB: DeKoning Walsh Cerra
IC: Newman Kennedy Hewett Motlop
SUB: Mirkov

Out:
Weitering - this sucks
Cottrell - terrible game, no effort
Dow - bad luck but Kennedy is back

In:
Kemp - here's his big run at it at CHB
Martin - He's quality
Kennedy - easy in.

Dumb to pick a small as Sub as we have loads of smalls. We get an injury, mirkov goes ruck, De Koning goes to CHF.

Missing: McKay, Weitering, McGovern, Marchbank, Williams, Pittonet.

We have some huge outs. So if they can't get near us then they suck, which they do.

We will have a strong midfield.

Just play all the small/medium forwards. Plat them high.

Smaller defence. Young to Wright.

EF Mid Season Draft

SUB: Mirkov

I'd still go Mirkov as sub. I'm not a fan of debuts as Subs but it's about best for the team and best for winning games and I reckon he'd be all for it. It means as soon as we get an injury to a small player DeKoning goes forward and we change it all up because we have an abundance of talls and we can. If DeKoning happens to go down then just our luck.

Reckon Durdin comes straight in to play full back.

Would not be surprised if Hayes name comes up as well for Newnes.

Is Hayes ready to go, hasn't he been out injured for a few week?
I'd be interested in looking at a Boyd for LOB as well...

OUT: Weitering Motlop Newnes Carroll Cottrell
IN: Durdin Kennedy Hayes Martin Kemp

Kemp plays fwd and provides another option
JSOS plays a ruck roving/follower role
Martin on the wing, rotating with Hayes and LOB
Not sure who the sub is though

Most confident of a win I’ve been all year. They’re a pathetic side. Their contested ball winning is (Parish aside) non existent. Their pressure is useless.

They’ve got nothing. I’m barely even thinking about this game. My mind is on Richmond.
I wish I shared your confidence. Those pricks have a nasty habit of growing an extra leg when we are invloved.
I agree they are shit but I'll be happier when the game is over and we salute.

Ah, really can't see Hayes in there at this early stage. Happy for he kid but...
