When your beliefs involve needing to defend well to score you will always be looking at defending more when you're not scoring.

Hasn't kicked a goal in 4 weeks. Definitely seems to be form at the moment. Kicked 15 in the 7 weeks before that with only one goalless game, and only had 2 goalless games in the first 11.

I don't think SANFL form matters much in Newchurch's case. I think Nicks has a type of player he's looking for and Tariek is the antithesis of that.

Nicks (and by extension the AFC) hate any player with a bit of "razzle dazzle".

We prefer the train hard, run in straight lines, play within the structures types.

That's why we won't target a Rankine/Bolton type in the trade period, and why Rachele will sadly end up being a whipping boy within the next two years.

Would have to give up this year's first and next year's at very least.

Split 2022 pick for two picks in the 10-15 range and send to GWS and GC for Hopper and Rankine?
2023 first and Doedee for JHF?

At this point I would be happy with one but if we got all three that would be game changing.

sorry.. but you clearly dont watch the sanfl games if you think frampton doesnt dominate at that level..

he rarely gets beaten 1v1… and so he shouldnt.. the sanfl is a glorified ammo league these days.. Frampton‘s opponents are shite.

i’m sayimg he never plays AFL for us again unless its a desperate break glass situation.. but one look at our depth of KPD’s tells you that the cupboards bare. if Murray and Butts went down this weekend, say Murray gets a concussion and Butts does a hammy.. were looking at billy and borlase the following week.

thats pretty bleak.

and we certainly aint solving this little problem in one off season.. any draftee KPD will be miles off being ready next season and there aint much around in the way of potential KPD trade options this year.. unless we can somehow steal Cox from Freo (highly unlikely)

i can easily see Billy getting another 1 or 2 year contract at seasons end.. Nicksy rates Billy’s leadership in the SANFL and its not hard to see why.. he’s a general in defense back there…

unfortunately Billy is just one of those lads who cant consistently bring his strong SANFL game with him up to the next level.

He does get beaten one on one, he just doesn't know how to position himself.

I do go to SANFL games, I wouldn't trust him to defend one on one at AFL.

If he can play loosethen he's good.

It's a list management decision. Nicks might indeed rate Matt and want him to stay (which would explain why he was denying the rumour). If the list managers see value in trading him though, he's gone.

Fans have decided that Murphy is a player that they want to bitch about, but he's obviously doing what the coaching team need from that role better than any alternative because he's first 22. He's not just depth.

Hopefully Rachele replaces him - but he's not getting selected because he's the coaches son. It's because of what he offers in comparison to the other options.

Even the biggest hater could see that Murphy and McHenry place a lot more pressure at the contest than Cook and Sholl do currently.

Is that enough to hold their place in the side? Obviously it is currently, and hopefully that changes as our squad improves.

Took him a while to come to that realisation.

If he wanted to give Crouch a genuine chance in the middle, he should have played Keays forward or Laird in defence... rather than moving Crouch to a wing, which we all know was pointless!
