DocSholl I’m loading up on Port for bottom 4 on the back of your analysis. You have cornered the market on reverse market indications.

After his cowardice and lack of support for Clarko, generic inability to apply logic, reason, a semblance intelligence or nous to any subject, I’m not sure why this response is much of a surprise.

Pick 1-3 next year more valuable than 1 this year.

Not only is it valid, it’ll prove to be the best deal for us.

The GWS Deal:

Out: 1
In: 3,2023 R1 x 2 (GWS(5), Rich(14))

The Port Deal

Out: Judas
In: 2, 2023 R1 (Port)

It’s slights overs to us due to the contracted Judas and the ‘premium’ associated with a Guaranteed Choice @ #1.

GWS are paying for certainty.

Anyone who comes up with a trade with less than 2000 point difference is underselling the importance of certainty and known talents. We can’t take the piss, but we certainly don’t have to play fair.

Wow!

This is the best trade deal ive ever seen.

Youve taken my idea and taken it to the next level.

Gratz

Is sheezel athletic enough to get separation at afl level

Athlete isn't just vertical leap / 20m speed.

He has great endurance and agility. Visually he has a turn of pace. Combined with his anticipation and body work - yes he will get separation.

More than that though, he finishes his work better than the rest and can make something out of nothing. He only needs half a second to make it happen which is what you need in high pressure finals.

I like this HTR. Sequencing is important. We need pick 2 first (to guarantee Wardlaw), so I wouldn't want us to make the GWS trade until Port have settled the Pick 2 from WCE. If we're not taking Cadman, we need to secure both Wardlaw and Sheezel.
I’m mindful if we get 19, that west coast pull a swifty and bid on Harvey, swallowing our 19 and giving them the all valuable first pick of the second round. They love bidding on a north affiliate.

So I’m all for trying 19 for Clark

We won't get Sheezel with 8. Most of us are OK with 2 + F1/player, but not OK if it can't be done (I can't see Port getting 2, btw).

If you whole original point was based on people here rejecting 2 + F1/player, you haven't read the room.

My read of your original post was you saying we take what we're offered rather than hold onto him. Maybe I got it wrong, maybe you weren't clear.

I.e.
  • pass on trades that help your team because you want to screw another team
implies people are willing to reject 2 + F1/player.
Sheezel is with pick 2.

The most recent offer has us getting 2 and ports F1 and sweetners in that mega deal.

I haven't talked about accepting 8, at all. You've misunderstood.

Fair enough. It's a non-point then, because no-one here is rejecting 2 and ports F1 and sweeteners because we "want to screw another team".

I agree with this fully. Can't see us doing a pick swap with GWS unless we already have 2 locked up prior.

Can someone take a peak at the puppies board and see if they are losing their shit over what Brisbane is offering them for Dunkley.
I'm perma banned from their board(for very little mind you)

would love to see the melts.

Someone sell me on sheezel.

Happy to be wrong but I get big jimmy Toumpas vibes

Nah, nothing like it.

He’s more Darren Jarman/Stevie Johnson than Toby Greene.

If you should be worried about any vibe, it’s a Ben Lennon vibe. But his numbers dwarf pretty much any medium forward at NaB league level in recent years.

I’m slightly worried about how he would go on quick small defenders at AFL level, but at the same time, there’s more space at AFL level that at any other level of the game.

He’s probably got the cleanest hands in the draft and that’s a big tick for me. He doesn’t fumble. Vice like on the lead. Fantastic footskills, increadible footy IQ.

I want Sheezel at one of the picks if we have 2 and 3.

I love Wardlaw, but I think I’d be more annoyed at letting Sheezel through of any of those after Cadman.

He will be the type of forward half player that opposition coaches spend hours on in the lead up to a final, I.e Akermanis.

Wardlaw at 2 and Sheezel at 3 for me.

I think what a lot are missing is we can't get 2 without trading 1 and then giving up 12.

Port can't get 2 and have anything of quality to add to it.

This multi club deal looks worse for us by the minute.

Port are a piece short, why are we willing to give up pick 12, to help them.

The net is looking way less than the sum of parts, this needs to go back to square 1 in my opinion.

They are obviously not fans of Pickering and expect to get 21, F1 and F2 for Dunkley and lose pick 39.

I would assume that there's another step.

Either Port send out more value or they take the Haynes salary dump with the pick from GWS going to us, and maybe sent of for Clark

‘Still got to give up something’: Why mammoth four-club trade is far from done deal

Port Adelaide may need to contribute more to the reported four-club mega trade deal that would see Jason Horne-Francis and Eagle Junior Rioli land at the Power, according to former number one draft pick Bryce Gibbs.

Speaking on SEN SA on Saturday, Gibbs said the proposed deal that would see GWS land pick one, North Melbourne hold picks 2 and 3 and West Coast finish with picks 8 and 12 could “certainly happen”.

It would mean GWS give up picks 3 and 12 to move up to 1, West Coast give up pick 2 and Rioli, the Kangaroos lose pick 1 and Horne-Francis while Port Adelaide would be giving up pick 8, and potentially their future first rounder to the Eagles.

“Port are adamant they are not giving up any of their young talent,” Gibbs said.

“If you’re going after high profile talent and early picks and things, you’ve still got to give up something.

“Port obviously dug their heels in with a lot of their young stars. They’ve shut (the approaches from rivals) down all quickly.”

Under the draft point index, the Giants would be giving up a combined 3502 points (picks 3 & 12) for the 3000-point pick 1.

North would jump from the 3000-point value of pick one to a combined 4751 for picks 2 and 3.

West Coast would be moving up from 2517 draft points for pick 2 to a combined 2819 for picks 8 and 12 – but they would also lose Rioli.

It was reported the Eagles asked about the likes of WA youngster Mitch Georgiades and defender Dan Houston as part of the deal for Rioli, but those approaches were knocked back.

With a now four-club trade flagged, Gibbs said the proposed deal could get every club what they wanted.

“It certainly could happen,” he said.

“And if it takes an extra couple of teams to join in for something like this, absolutely they have to look at it.

“It looks like everyone could benefit greatly.”

Gibbs, who himself is a number one draft pick who ended up with a trade, said Horne-Francis “takes the cake” in that special group that includes the likes of Jack Watts, Brett Deledio and Tom Scully.

“He takes the cake – he’s doing it after 12 months (asking for a trade). It took me 11 years to come to that decision,” he said.

Fox Footy’s David King believes a deal for Horne-Francis for pick two isn’t enough on its own to satisfy the Roos.

“I just don’t think it’s enough,” he said.

“You’ve had a pick one and he’s had a year of development. You’ve got to prize him out of contract as well.”

Gibbs described the proposed four-club deal as “fascinating” and didn’t put it past the Roos to stand firm and hold onto Horne-Francis if a deal did not meet their demands.

“There’s so much uncertainty at the (North Melbourne) footy club. I daresay that’s a part to play in Jason’s decision to request a trade back to Adelaide,” Gibbs said.

“It’s fascinating.

“The way (Swan Tom) Papley turned around and had such an amazing year after his trade request to Carlton was denied; you look at Josh Dunkley who requested a trade to Essendon. He goes on to have an amazing year and wins the Bulldogs’ best and fairest.”

Gibbs said it was clear Horne-Francis’ only option to return home for 2023 was Port Adelaide, given Adelaide are “all in” on Izak Rankine.
Are the media really dumb or deliberately trying sell this narrative to try and screw us. There are pieces missing in this trade that are left out, but it would have to be a real big piece coming our way.

Doesn't this value JHF at 1249
  • After the GWS trade we have 3502 (which isn't enough in the first place but if they want to play the points game)
  • After the Port trade we are left with 4751
  • 1249=pick 13
We should be getting Butters and maybe more to make up the difference. Ports F1 (if we get it is not enough). We should be waning a lot more than 3000 points back for a contracted JHF.

Heh. Zac Butters, pick 2 and pick 3 (and Logue and Clark) would certainly be a haul for the ages.

Better be sending that to Schnoz and Viney

Jason Horne-Francis

Horne-Francis' bombshell decision to request a trade from North Melbourne to Port Adelaide after just one season set in motion the biggest round of talks between clubs. He is now in the middle of a proposed multi-club mega trade that has picks and players flying everywhere, including Horne-Francis joining Port Adelaide and the Power having to give up its pick No.8, future first-round selection and more. Under the arrangement West Coast would receive picks No.8 and 12, the Giants move up from No.3 and 12 to take North Melbourne's No.1 pick and the Roos grab pick No.3 as well as a future-first selection and likely a bounty of other selections. It still has a bit to go but it is growing in likelihood.

Exactally.

Basically we downgrade our pick 1 to 3 so Port can give what we refused day 1 and gain another player.

We are getting seriously screwed in every iteration of this I have seen.

That's a shocking reason to part ways with 2 elite picks
For points people we would lose 6000 (2*3000) and gain 5912 ( 2, 3, Ports F1)

I hate the whole use of points to justify a deal, but even with that logic we are getting ****ed over.
