Marshall is 6-12. Add 8 and future first and it's about 3800 points.

3800 points is what Adelaide offered us for 1 last year. Rawling set this as the benchmark day 1 of trade week.

Marshall + 8 + F1 is fair.
As (I think) Souup said, if Marshall really is in the mix, then it takes the weight off needing to snare Cadman for structural reasons. Marshall, 8 and F1 for a bloke who doesn't want to be here is good business

Don't think Marshall and Larkey are a great combo. Need a more physical presence than Todd.
I partially agree. I’m not sure they are my preferred combo either.

But I think Larkey has the ability to play that hit up forward role and let Marshall play deep.

Larkey has been forced to play deep due to our lack of marking targets.

It would work if Larkey changed role, but then is that the best utilisation of Larkey?

I’m not sure we would straight out get Marshall + Pick 8 + PA future 1st.

They would most likely want something coming back.

Unless something changed today Clark is definitely gettable.
I think I the Saints will sit back and see what we can get through other deals.

If the JHF goes down to the last minute, this one might not happen. Unless both clubs agree to something in principle that can be signed off very quickly.

Updated 5 way mega deal

Port
In: JHF, Rioli, Haynes
Out: 8, 33, f1

WC
In: 8, 12, f1(pa)
Out: Rioli, 26, f1

GWS
In: 1, 33
Out: Haynes, 3, 12, 19

STK
In: 19, f3(fre)
Out: Clarke

NM
In: Clarke, 3, 26, f1(wc)
Out: JHF, 1, f3(fre)
We turned down JHF for F1 and 8. I don't think we're going to turn around and agree to that and then Port somehow only pay 33 for Rioli and Haynes.

This is a comment made on one of facebook pages on Todd Marshall:

“Hearing from a decent source that big Todd Marshall has been asked the question and has told Port that he is willing to come across to Arden st.
8 + future 1st pick and Marshall”

The important words there are "facebook pages"

They would work fine together - twin 6' 6 athletic forwards who both have great set shot routines is exactly what we are looking for.

Zurhaar and Chom can provide a physical presence and P Curtis does ok in that area as well.

I think Bergman will be the one to unlock everything. Melbourne boy, Saints fan and reportedly wanted to come back to Melbourne.

If Bergman agrees to come back to Melbourne, I can see a deal where he goes to St Kilda and Clark to us.

Bergmans Dad actually played for St Kilda reserves so there might be some interest?

i'm not a CCJ fan....but getting Marshall would mean we have Larkey, CCJ, Comben and Marshall as KPF...if we got Marshall all it would mean is Comben and/or CCJ request a trade to get AFL time, and we'd probably get little return. seems like the net effect would be 8, F1st, and slight upgrade in the KPF area.

Also, i don't think Larkey and Marshall would make a great team, they both seem to be low possession forwards full forwards, not a CHF and FF. we already have that terrible combo with CCJ and Larkey both being low possession KPF. i think Comben has more ability to be the CHF we require, by far the most agile of all our options.

You will see an increase in output in Larkey with a genuine KPF partnering with him.

At the moment he has been pretty much double teamed because clubs recognise no other threat up forward.

You witnessed what happened when a team tried to go one out with him in Sydney and he tore Tom McCartin a new hole.

We actually need a clone of Petrie/Waite more so than another Larkey. Lead up forwards are good no doubt about that, but in those crucial centre clearance or stoppage clearance moments, we struggle to trouble defenders that sweep.

The value of players with the ability of taking a huge contested mark or splitting the pack to bring ball to ground is just so crucial and we have none (other than Comben). What was once a surplus in our forward line, is now a scarce option. Indictment on our list management of the last 10 years.
