Wouldn't be surprised if we have a similar number of changes next year as well.
If we do it again next year (and no one would be shocked) we’d be moving on players after much less time on the list than we’ve traditionally offered, so it would be an even tougher statement of intent.

Might be a mix of old guard retiring. Ziebell, Hall, Polec, Goldy and players like Mahoney, Spicer. Some of the old guard may get another year depending on how they go next season id guess.

True, but for the criticism of this approach I guess the question is, is the list better now than it was r22 2020 I’d say it is.

Yes will be similar. We have to take minimum 3 players in the draft so that's always the base, we'll have a couple of retirements (Ziebell & Polec) so that makes it 5 already.

My comment was more around the fact that it feels like the end of what we started in 2020 and that any future list changes will be due to natural attrition rather than historical errors.

I thought Jed was heading to the suns as a delisted free agent. If so, surely he’d prefer to go that way rather than with us as a rookie
He would have but Liam Pickering said they other day because of what went on for GC in trade period, they no longer had a list spot for him.

God I hate that our pick is always seen as "up for grabs"
i reckon journo's are at the point where their body just writes that sort of shit automatically and they don't even consciously think about it.

I've sorted our wing pace issue out.

Sure not great with footy in hand, so it suits our squad well.

I reckon there's a couple of our guys who would run faster if you put a KFC meal just out of reach in front of them.

No surprises in today's delistings.
We have 7 open slots on the list
4 national draft selections was mentioned.
Which leaves us 3 open for dfas or ssp selections of more senior players.
That feels pretty good tbh.
Jed may end up competing for one of those ssp spots.

It ends by saying all will be welcome back to our club , wonder if a certain someone was awarded the same invite, unlikely.
brady also mentioned they were a chance to be rookied, in part because of their character.

The last of the great list culls, I think I've got this right;
2022: 7 players
2021: 9 players
2020: 13 players
29 players over 3 years either desisted or traded.

It's the dawn of a new era, after years of giving players undeserved contract extensions and hanging on to players hoping they'd come good or they'd eventually get over their injuries we can now set a new standard.

Time to draw a line under the Scott / Joyce and Shaw / Noble eras it's onwards and upwards with Clarko / Viney / Brady.
Its been like that most years since (and including) 2016. We've essentially been cycling thru the list since then.

SEN - "Roos delist 376 games of experience as quartet departs". No other team has this in their delistings headlines lol
Well the talk all season and especially since trade period has been that we need experience.

wowsers. All 4 gone.
Walker and jed will get picked up by other clubs for sure
Better hope larkey doesnt go down otherwise walker would have been good to keep.

That is the problem, Walker wasn't a good option even when Larkey got hurt.

If Comben doesn't get on and stay on the park next year we need to a plan B.

I would have kept Jed as he was still playing AFL standard footy, the others not so much. We need experience but we need quality experience.

Ziebell 258 games, barely noticed him this year.
Polec 148, afraid of his own shadow
Walker 139, just demoralising clangers
Turner 118, couldn't find a role for him.

We have an extreme shortage of A grade older talent.

Mahony, Lazzaro, Spicer will want to show something next season, cos right now they are next.
It’s a fair point keep in mind w jz , Polec will likely be done too, does greenwood have one or two yrs left?

Gresh not likely to ever leave the Saints but would absolutely love him at North. Could be a superstar in the right environment.
No, he couldn’t.

Can I please be the pedantic pain in the bum who points out that that's not actually how percentages work?

Yes but did you know statistics are the beginning of the conversation, not the end?
