We’ve drafted Chapman, Amiss and Erasmus in the mid first round the last two years. They’re all going to be jets imo.

I think West Coast will out of it looking okay tbh.

This could be somewhat like the McCarthy trade though. Pick 2 could be really go but West Coast end up with multiple good players. In 2016 we got Logue, Darcy and Ryan for the price of McCluggage. You’d argue McCluggage is the best player of the four but we still look okay out of this trade imo.
Port did the best by far, WC and North did fine and I have absolutely no idea why GWS got conned into saving the trade for Port. You take 33 from Port and give it to GWS and the trade makes the most sense IMO

So we have Meek who we want a 2nd rounder to then try get GCS to take a nibble on

And dogs who want more from brizzy and will have to prob take unders

And who have committed to Lobb and will have to pay overs

Anything else happening for us?

For a bloke who's hit more bongs than footy fields in the past three years, that's an excellent result for the Eagles.

Port - so so, outlaying for JHF? Totally get it. Outlaying for Junior? Much more questionable.

North - Dice roll depending on what happens with Clarko and whether Sheezel and whoever else they take are more LDU than JHF.

The Giants' thinking, however, feels pretty bloody inexplicable here.

Only thing I can think of is that the eagles were linked to Cadman as the only non vic metro kid in the top 5 so they needed to get ahead of them to make certain they’d get him. They paid a lot though to move up two picks.

Typical reaction to young talls from casual watchers. They see one bad performance and it counteracts all of the positives. In a funny way Luke winning the Rising Star and being a key piece in Melb's premiership meant he set a ridiculous bar for himself in 2022. By any measure he was still bloody good in 2022 for his age and type. People are worried about him being a bust whilst simultaneously locking in some u18 draftee as almost a guaranteed future Brownlow medallist. Jackson brings a lot of what Freo need - a very big body that is agile and versatile. He is nothing like Lobb at all - he likes physical contact for starters.
Yeah but not good enough for a top ten finish in the Dees B&F. Let's hope he turns into a champion but haven't seen it yet, certainly not on a consistent basis anyway.

Gee I get the frustration from Norf fans towards JHF but some of the comments on their board about him are a bit weird. Especially the post insinuating he's on track to become a heroin junkie, I get the bloke didn't give a s**t about the club but god damn
Jesus, imagine being so salty....not even 'salty', more twisted & bitter to outcry nonsense like this...?! Even with all Bennell, Hogan etc's issues I would never have yammered shit like this! I mean....I get that JHF left after just the 1 year and things haven't been great for any fan of that football club, but that's just lower than a snake's belly to react like that.......children

There's some hilarious melts in here.

Below is the previous 5 drafts. I excluded 2021 just due to those guys being super young.

The bold is pick 13. The players either side are 11,12,14 and 15. All those people melting, please tell me what 2 player combo would be an upgrade on Luke Jackson? For any one you find me I'll point out a gazillion 2 player combo's that didnt work.

I'd at a stretch think Fogarty and Clark would've been a nice combo, but imagine if you picked Brander and Hately!

Across all of these 25 players there's not many 2 player combo's you'd take over Jackson.

What I'm saying is 2 picks around 13 is still a massive gamble. Stop acting like Melbourne are going to miraculously pick up Fyfe and Curnow with the picks we gave them. Chances are they fluff it... like all these selections tell us.

On the flipside, Jackson's a gamble too, just like Hogan was, and McDardy was. I haven't seen enough to believe he'll be a certain champion. Hope he is though. Will be great to watch.

In terms of spots left on the list - I think we have 3 left?

Out: Mundy, Blakely, Western, Logue, Tucker
In: Jackson, Corbett

I suspect we'll resign Crowden for one more year, trade one of Lobb or Meek, but keep a spot free for ATW (or a delisted free agent). This means we use three spots in the draft. Our hand is 44, 67, 76.

In terms of Lobb or Meek - I personally don't mind if we trade either (not both) for picks this year or next. We've almost ruled ourselves out of this years draft. However 67 and 76 should come in significantly due to bids and clubs bailing the draft early.

Valente?

Probably any 3 year or under player is a gamble to some degree. Put Amiss in that bracket. Erasmus, Johnson etc.

Rather Jackson than the picks. We have enough youth not that Jackson is old.

Kuek took his spot, but not sure if he was a rookie-only signing?! So technically, it might be an open spot; not sure (??)

EDIT: or Kuek might be moved to a rookie spot, opening it up

We are now at the bottom of the table for this years drafting and we still want to get Sharp, what will be left for this years drafting for the newbies ???I suppose Meek and Lobb may get traded now.

Since the New Year:

Senior List

Out: Valente, Mundy, Western, Acres, Logue, Tucker
In: Jackson, Corbett

Rookie List:
Out: Blakely
In: Kuek

We currently have 32 senior listed players and six rookies. I think we’ll upgrade one or two of those rookies tbh. Can only see us trading one of Meek and Lobb - we’ll probably use the the pick/s on Sharp if we trade just one of them.

Who cares about this years draft. Take picks 100,101 and 102 to the draft if we need to.

Anything drafted beyond about 40 is a fairly speculative pick anyway.

Tbf they may have thought he was going to the Eagles with that complex deal, so the odds would have been good.
