Since when did we become soft bois at the trading table?

Both deals are okay but not great. I don't know why we accepted unders so early in the trade period. Embarrassing.

Once again we're going to have to go to Gold Coast to save face. They're like the reliable ex-girlfriend who provides a pick-me-up or ego boost during desperate times of need. Please help.

Jon Ralph quotes are irrelevant.

Since when was a two bit hack of a journo a list manager analyst.

You only need to listen to trade radio for the journalists who answer questions as experts don't know the rules for trading picks, trading players and then on trading them or contracts.

They don't know their own craft.

I just realised Darcy is a RFA at the end of 2024. Geelong will probably come calling again with their bottomless pit of money. It might be prudent to keep Meek for one more year, just in case over that year we get a feeling Darcy might be going. Geelong's total package would include a heap of benefits outside of the salary cap (e.g. a farm that magically appears on the market for half price), and they might not be able to draw up a FA contract too big for us to match. So they will need to trade for Darcy and could try end of 2023. Especially as Stanley, Blicavs and Ceglar are almost 32. Would be a big blow if we have given Meek the flick and then lose Darcy.

I’m a bit disappointed by the Acres deal tbh but I’m very impressed the club got as much as they did for an out of contract Logue and a role player like Tucker. I do not understand how anyone on here expected anymore for these two. Personally I think North Melbourne fans have every right to be disappointed in the deal.

Overall I’m happy with where we sit atm as long as we hold firm on the remaining trades. We got North Melbourne’s PPs before they found something else to do with them. Corbett has nominated us and it sounds like Sharp will as well. Meanwhile one of the best youngsters in the comp wants to join us and Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn are stuck in a situation where they’ll have pay overs to get Lobb and Meek respectively.

The Acres trade isn’t ideal but overall it’s going as well as anyone could realistically expect.

And yes Gold Coast might provide us with some picks for this year’s draft. Whatever - use their incompetence to our advantage as much as possible. Other clubs get leg ups through COLA, F/Ss, NGA, BS home ground advantage etc. - this is our leg up. Let’s make the most of it.

The Heraldsun thing saying we arent letting both Meek and Lobb go is a good play by us. Create a pseudo bidding war to see which club wants their player the most. Whoever pays the most gets the player, the other misses out for another year.

Ok quick where we’re at as of now:

Freo have lost: Logue, Tucker and Acres

Current assets with future picks based on this years ladder are:
2022 picks 13, 76
2023 picks 13, 20 (north pp), 32, 40 (north pp), 48, 59, 71.

Interest in: Jackson, Sharp, Corbett

Left field: Tippa

Possible further outs: Meek

Cloak and daggers outs: Lobb

Plus there will be one WTF moment: ???

Surely the Tippa news is our WTF moment

Think you’re on the money there, they need points next year for their academy players and we have a stack of future picks, 2xF2, 2xF3 and 2xF4, we either trade back into this year or up to their 1st next year. Probably just waiting to see what they get for Rankine from the crows.

I know there was the threat of PSD with Logue but it was also in the Kangaroos best interest to negotiate a deal. Tucker was in contract and it would have been very bad press for the Kangas if they couldn't get the only two players in the league that were interested in joining them. The PSD is 7 weeks away and it's bad press and not great for their members in the meantime (especially with JHF bailing). October and November is when you sell hope and resign members. I don't think we needed to add a sweetner to their second and third rounder.

All will be forgiven though, as long as we don't overpay for Jackson. It's critical. We can't let Melbourne do us over again. We must be prepared to walk. West Coast are not serious bidders and if they outbid and overpay, good luck to them. They have bigger holes to fill and it will set them back for years.

We HAVE to hold firm with Jackson, do not give them more than our firsts.

This feels like an even more pointless exercise then normal given the events of today but hopefully our we've finished our horrible trades for the period.

F2 (North), F4 (Freo) - 32, Sharp, Corbett

Meek, F3 (Carlton) -> 24 (feels very optimistic)

13, F1 -> Jackson, F3

2022: 24, 32
2023: F2 (Freo), F3 (North), F3 (Melbourne), F4 (North)

Feels optimistic and it's still gross

So is the Logue Tucker deal actually finalised or not? I'm reading conflicting things
