Couple this with the hero complex. Dusty was SO good and SUCH a good "redemption" story (came from a pretty busted home and some troubles in his younger days had the neck tatts etc etc). His redemption story is worth more than his playboy story.Martin used to send signals to Toby Mitchell and hang with Connors and King with Bike gang guys. The chopsticks was a sensationalist story but as far as off field stuff goes that was nothing. He used to hang out with Dayne Swan and Sam Fisher and I’m not sure he stopped being a bad boy so much as once he became a superstar his image changed and the media decided to hype him instead of destroy his reputation, it’s a cost benefit analysis. Is he worth more in advertising as a hero or a villain.
DeGoey hasnt achieved what Dusty did, hes not beloved and thus his party boy feel bad stories are better for clicks.
There is a famous photo of Dusty the night after the 19 Granny with pupils like dishplates. Hes a brownlow and 2 norms in at that stage, no one wants to bust that bubble.
