So is it for certain De Goey has signed with the pies, or is it because some Collingwood nuffie on BF said it is so?
The bloke on SEN before said to hold fire on the JDG story. Said he hadn’t signed yet. But if Tom Browne is reporting it, you’d think it’s done.

So it looks like we're going to get Brad Hill, Hunter Clark & keep our first round pick.

That's some nifty trading.

Gunston to Brisbane. Gee they have their fingers in a lot of pies this off-season. Gunston, Dunkley, looking at Bowes + p7 apparently, must be going all out next year.

Plus they’ll get the number one draft pick in Will Ashcroft (so not sure why theyd want pick 7).

Xavier O'Halloran?

GIANT IN LIMBO

But another Giant selected in the opening round of the draft – Xavier O'Halloran – is currently in limbo.

The 2018 pick No.22 is hopeful of earning another deal to remain at the Giants, but will need to wait and see where things sit after the trade period.

It is understood that some Victorian-based clubs have expressed interest in the Western Jets product.

O'Halloran played 14 games in 2022 – three times as the medi-sub – after playing 17 games last year for a total of 33.

GWS is believed to be open to re-signing the 22-year-old for 2023, but want to wait until it deals with the trade period before making a final decision on O'Halloran.

With the pandemic interrupting 2020 and 2021 and a change of coach impacting the landscape at the Giants in 2022, O'Halloran has struggled to cement a permanent spot in Greater Western Sydney's best 22.

With Taranto, Hopper, Hill and Bruhn all set to move south, O'Halloran is the only other uncontracted player at the Giants who is yet to learn his fate. – Josh Gabelich

But his general play is conservative. He doesn’t hit packs hard and doesn’t seem to do a lot of the unfashionable stuff with much intensity.

I don’t want that sort of player in our team. I want a team of goers who play without compromise or need for fanfare. I’m not sure Weideman will ever be that player. It’s what frustrates me about Hill.

Darned if I know why Sharman isn’t playing every week. I like him much more as a player.
Agree 100% with your post. I get embarrassed for Weideman when I watch him play. At least Hill has the excuse of being small and an outside player

Tom Browne looks like every real estate agent ever, and seems to have the same level of credibility.
Daddy tells him stuff. Must make all the other ‘journos’ sick. And doesn’t paint Daddy in the best light either.

Big yes from me. He’s a gun

I think the offer should be

Long + 27 out
Bowes + 7 in

Long wants to go there we dont wanna offload him plus the salary.

We have to win it otherwise we wouldnt bother.
Its too good for GC.

Honestly, they have three second rounders at the moment. I'd be expecting an exchange of one of those picks.

SO something like Long +27

For Bowes, 7 and 31 back.

Its 1.5 million off their list that we would be paying for a GOP and a prospect.

We are not here to make the other teams better.

Well with DeGoey off the table we should have the cap space to take on Bowes contract.

Hope we go hard at him now. Too good of an opportunity to pass up on!

Picks 7 and 9 to go with NAS, Windy and Owens last year wouldn't be a bad little reset period.
Looks great doesn't it. Let's not shit the bed with this one. Could reshape the list in a few months as opposed to a few years.

This time of the year dropping in to read and keep updated you have to keep balance and in touch with reality. From Chicken Littles with the sky is falling, to those jumping at shadows, delusion and paranoia run rampant.

From the rush to microwave memberships because the club was recruiting Kyle Hartigan from Hawthorn, to disappointment that JDG is not coming to St Kilda, to Saints refusing to even entertain discussions with Suns to take on player and pick 7, there is no end to anger at rumours and rubbish.

The rules for trading and drafting sanity:

1. Just because a click bait journo, or 13 year on an Internet forum says its so, it may not be

2. Saints (and every other club) is investigating every possible scenario. If you see another club doing a trade etc, don't then assume that we didn't also examine it. We either didn't want that player, the player didn't want to come to us, he is too expensive, we can't fit him under our salary cap, or that we don't have the trade capital to make it happen

3. The fact that the St Kilda admin is not telegraphing every possible move they are making publicly is a POSITIVE. Best negotiations are done quietly and professionally, not alerting everyone to what you are doing, or thinking

4. Sometimes this time of the year, it is the thrill of the chase. Whilst the hunt and chase is exhilarating, it is better to take a calculated approach with who comes in, who departs and who we draft.

5. If you see a scenario that involves more than two parties, it will rarely happen. Complicated trades that involve 4 clubs, 8 picks, a sheep dog and a handful of beans are fun, but fantasy

6. Bringing up an isolated past error from a trade, or draft is irrelevant. The only people who don't make errors are those who don't make decisions, or make decisions with the benefit of hindsight

7. Sometimes the best purchase is the one you walk away from.
are you trying to ruin bigfooty? Keep your well considered thoughts to yourself and get out of here

Sharman has shown he can play forward and back and next year we should see him cement his spot in the team as a dangerous forward or a rebounding defender.
