GawdMaybe. Or maybe Carlton told Twomey that out of spite. Doesn't matter anyway. Bell has already said he was going to match any bid for Henry, even a higher one.

It could have been a dud move having pick 10 as we might not have taken Chappy & ended up with an inferior player.
That would be 'dud' drafting, not dud trading. It could have been a dud move having pick 10 as we might not have taken Chappy & ended up with an inferior player.
Can we stop talking about Henry FFS
Its in the past and he's on our list with quite a bit of potential.
Yeah great, that's been said umpteenth million times.. Move on.He needs to improve

Melbourne were the ones we got the earlier pick from. It was 100% to get ahead of Carlton.Twomey had the inside mail and had Henry going at 18 after a bid from Geelong. Carlton did it out of spite / time management after we took their targets. If they hadn't bid, Henry would have gone a lot later.
I'm not sure we paid a price to get ahead of Carlton. My memory was it was Melbourne who were posturing/threatening to select Henry at 8 while we were holding pick 10. This made us pay up to give up pick 10 + 28 for their 8 and jump ahead of them. Worked out well with Serong, and also worked well for Melbourne, as they had no real intention of ever taking Henry and took their man Pickett and then had an extra pick to take Rivers.
We traded up to get Serong, Carlton were very into him and we knew it. Henry was a revenge bid for taking the player they wanted. No one ever talked about anyone else being that into Henry.Melbourne were the ones we got the earlier pick from. It was 100% to get ahead of Carlton.
I do remember Twomey having in his late mail at 18 but at times before that they had him going earlier and their were clubs in the top 10 very interested.
Yes, before the Henry bid otherwise we would have had to use the pick to match Henry. This way we also got Serong and could use the junk picks to get Henry when the bid came from Carlton. We traded up to get Serong, Carlton were very into him and we knew it. ThisIf someone wishes to discuss a player they shouldn't be told off, if you're not interested in the discussion then go to a different thread or simply start talking about something more interesting to you.
Spot on. We paid quite a price to move from 10 to 8 in trades with Melbourne and Adelaide. We did so to make sure we got 2 picks in before any possible bids for Henry. Pick 9 just happened to be Carlton.Yes, before the Henry bid otherwise we would have had to use the pick to match Henry. Darcy Jones has dropped out of Twoomey’s top 30 posted today. Could we snag him with our pick 30 (likely to be 33 after bid matching)
Didn't Bob Murphy (or one of the assistant coaches) name Henry as the player he is most excited about . Maybe he is better than some think...or maybe he just doesn't reach his potential. Anyway people just need to get over it. We didn't give up pick 9 for him, thanks to some good pick trading.Spot on. We paid quite a price to move from 10 to 8 in trades with Melbourne and Adelaide. Anyway I thought Henry might be more likely around 15.

Twomey also mentioned us as a possible destination for Burgiel, another speedster with forward nouse.
His phantom will be very interesting.
I think Ysaye is right, some of those top 30 will be available to us and some that he hasn't rated top 30 will be gone.
Keeler and Clarke are the others to have dropped out of his ranking too yeah?
Yes that was Bob Murphy.
The one that I noticed Twomey mentioned us in connection with was small forward Jacob Konstanty, which I can imagine would please some supporters.
I’d be surprised if Konstanty lasted past GWS tbh
I would love us picking Burgiel
Konstanty has a bit of Ballas about him, leads and makes his own space to run into, can take a one grab mark and looks to bring others into good positions - if the niggle is true, would be a great get….if we get him - give him the no.1 jumper…I’d be surprised if Konstanty lasted past GWS tbh
