Twomey had the inside mail and had Henry going at 18 after a bid from Geelong. Carlton did it out of spite / time management after we took their targets. If they hadn't bid, Henry would have gone a lot later.

I'm not sure we paid a price to get ahead of Carlton. My memory was it was Melbourne who were posturing/threatening to select Henry at 8 while we were holding pick 10. This made us pay up to give up pick 10 + 28 for their 8 and jump ahead of them. Worked out well with Serong, and also worked well for Melbourne, as they had no real intention of ever taking Henry and took their man Pickett and then had an extra pick to take Rivers.

Melbourne were the ones we got the earlier pick from. It was 100% to get ahead of Carlton.

I do remember Twomey having in his late mail at 18 but at times before that they had him going earlier and their were clubs in the top 10 very interested.

We traded up to get Serong, Carlton were very into him and we knew it. Henry was a revenge bid for taking the player they wanted. No one ever talked about anyone else being that into Henry.

Yes, before the Henry bid otherwise we would have had to use the pick to match Henry. This way we also got Serong and could use the junk picks to get Henry when the bid came from Carlton.

Hoping so, we even cleared the decks a bit in terms of small sized players (Crowden and Western) but at the end of the day because of the eveness of the players from 15-40 I suspect that many clubs will be finding multiple prospects that they like (but didn't expect) still standing at those picks.

Didn't Bob Murphy (or one of the assistant coaches) name Henry as the player he is most excited about . Maybe he is better than some think...or maybe he just doesn't reach his potential. Anyway people just need to get over it. We didn't give up pick 9 for him, thanks to some good pick trading.

Konstanty looks good…perhaps lacks some depth on his kicking!

one who isn’t a forward that I quite like the look of of is Darcy Edmend.

Pure winger with good skills off both feet and a hard worker by all accounts

Konstanty has a bit of Ballas about him, leads and makes his own space to run into, can take a one grab mark and looks to bring others into good positions - if the niggle is true, would be a great get….if we get him - give him the no.1 jumper…

Gruzewski looks a good fit if he is around our pick, his ‘highlights’ show he has footy smarts and is aggressive in the marking contest.

For me though, I want Darcy Jones - I miss the line breaking speed, decision making and kicking of Stephen Hill - he projects similar- although smaller in stature - WANT!!!!

I can’t understand why Adelaide didnt nominate Keeler as an NGA?
There is every chance he falls past pick 40. Maybe they just didn’t want him full stop.
