Glass half full stuff.
Both 31 next year.
Both missing important game time at this stage of their careers.
Both a year older than at their old club where they finished unable to play senior footy.

Sure, they'll play senior footy, but don't get your hopes up that they'll be in good nick until the end of 2025, not to mention Adams with a further year on his contract.
Grundy & Jordan are great pick ups but Adams from Collingwood stinks of Scott Russell the sequel.
There is a reason the Pies moved him out of the middle.
They won the flag. That's the bench mark.

I find the concept of winners & losers of a trade period to be so bizarre. I think you can do well to get the players you want, get the deals done efficiently etc. (as we did), but at the end of the day all any club has done is add names to their list. If that was all it took to be a winner, then we wouldn't even bother playing games each week, we'd just award the four points to whoever names the best 22 on paper at selection.

Talk to any Freo supporter at the moment - and they’re angry. They certainly feel like losers.

It’s interesting to hear West Australians bemoaning the “go home” factor.

Purely and simply it's just to sell papers and get clicks in the AFL off season. We won't know how good the moves are till next season and beyond.

I won't be shedding any tears for them DQ. As you would know better than most, Freo are one of the many clubs that have a distinct advantage over the Northern clubs when it comes to the draft. In the last two drafts alone, there have been a combined 15 West Australians taken in the first two rounds. By comparison, there has been 1 from NSW & Queensland combined.

That's before you get to their advantage in the trade period, where their own go-home factor has helped them land Luke Jackson, Jaeger O'Meara, Brad Hill, Jesse Hogan and a number of others.

As for their losses, in recent times Hill, Hogan, Liam Henry, Blake Acres, Griffin Logue and Rory Lobb have all requested trades out of Freo. They're all West Australians.

There's something rotten going on within the four walls of that club and feeling sorry for themselves over how really-not-very-hard they have it won't turn things around for them.

So given Cleary will chew up our later picks are we better off trading 12 for 2 picks in the late teens low 20’s or just take best Available with 12?

I'm split on it. Bare in mind though if there is a deficit and you don't have enough points you only cop a penalty in that round, so lets say Cleary is bid at 35 (that seems about right) and we don't have the points, it will just come off our second round pick next year, bare in mind the North PP we have is NOT a second rounder it's a mid round pick.

Personally I would like to trade down with North, would they go 12 for 17 and 18 with maybe a late future going back to North.

That's option 1, option 2 is trade up but I don't love it as the players at a realistic range aren't worth it personally (I know many on here love a couple of defenders there but I don't love them personally)

Option 3 is take pick 12 (which will be 13 at least)

Keep 12 and Cleary and we get to keep Reid - who I think if fit could be the difference between winning and not winning a flag this season. Unlike a potential pick 19 who probably never plays a game for us at senior level.

Or trade our first round pick this year and North's Future First to trade up with someone?

I wouldn't and I doubt that gets you as far up the order as you think. It will cost way more to get the GWS pick. What is the point? Rather trade down get two before Cleary.

I'm happy enough to keep 12. My preference is trading down but only a few spots, north at 17/18 seem okay and still in that area we could prize two late firsts. Alternatively take 12 to the draft and I'm actually fine with that, either one. If we don't think our target at 12 is there at 17 take the pick at 12.

Reid meh not relying on him at all.
