Over time, Durdin will be more consistent, but Mots has the xfactor to have a few bags of 4 or 5

Mots also has the potential to move in the midfield/wing and be damaging up there ala Shai Bolton

That's what excites me about Mots and frankly he has shown far more on field brilliance and work rate (esp chasing and tackling) at AFL at his young age than I ever hoped in my wild expectations.

Will be a top 5 player from his draft class when all is said and done !

Re Motlop he’d have to be a walk up start in place of Durdin … Motlop is classier more composed doesn’t fall to ground and is better up the ground right at the moment imo

Durdin is a hff/mid imo, if we lose Dow and Ed retires we need more depth in the middle so he needs to get super fit

Charlie is going to get scragged every game and all forwards you shouLD expect similar 'finals' type treatment EG hary went on a flop athon last night and got paid zero for his acting - and when the only marking options you have are four short blokes- you are going to get exploited , outmarked and rebounded - GWS are an extremely competent defensive outfit- the stats show it- and they were missing their best defender for the match. Their advantages were not only height but also class.

IMO : Carlton is at its most dangerous when you have Charlie, Harry and TDK scaring the opposition and giving our smalls the time to crumb and hassle the ground ball -last night there was hardly any ground ball - that was a direct outcome of the lack of talls. Playing Harry as a second ruck wears him out in unfamiliar territory he isnt a midfielder or a rover - he then cant be thte relief mark on a boundary get running faster than his direct and pilling defenders away from Charlie and he then gets to shagged to be a proper KPP tall.

In simple terms Pittonet's 'flaws' are far outweighed by the advantages he provides in freeing up other players - not to forget he is also a great help when the heat is on in clearances because he literally just gets in the way of opposition.

As for your point re stoppage / roving - it was disheartening watching Walsh (in particular) made to look pedestrian by Coniglio on repeat occassions- their smaller mids dominated around stoppages and CBB.

I know you dont like bigger bodies as they are too 'slow' - but in finals- if you donthave an experienced and very hard edged ground ball get brigade - you are goneski.

I'd start the big boys on ball in every quarter and then switch Walsh, Dow in when they can do the most damage.

I guess Vossy was just getting match run into teh legs of Waslha dn Cerra alst nigt - they certainly need it.
I don't like our aggregate speed/endurance/agility mix. I would happily play TDK and someone like Briggs together if we had the right mix.

RE: Weitering incident, how the hell is Greene not cited?

I don't think Mots has the raw speed for the wing, but I think he could become a pretty solid on-baller. Needs to get leaner though.

Shai is the better athlete, shame we didn't get him instead of Fisher.

Doubt it means much when the whips are cracking but Sydney’s only won two games against top 8 sides this year… us when we were playing terribly and GWS. We kicked 5.15 when we lost to them and Sydney kicked 15.6 when they beat the Giants.
They're also 0-3 at the MCG this year

How many goals has Fogarty kicked this season and just out of interest, when was his last goal ?
I understand he brings pressure but in finals, that’s got to be a given for everyone.
Fogarty’s kicking is a real issue and reckon you’ve got to bring more to the table than just pressure.
Durdin is quicker and more dynamic, should’ve finished with 2 goals yesterday … he offers more than Fogarty imo …

and his punch on McGovern later too. What a flog

Durdin is the better player/got a considerably higher ceiling than Fogarty, but Fog has mostly been wonderful during our 9 game winning streak and Durds hasn't played in the seniors for a little while.

Can make a compelling case for either really IMHo

Can also make a compelling case for neither.

Sydney won a flag with the slowest midfield ever assembled - Hawthorn won three. If you can smash the opposiiton at the contest - you can win. There is enough class in Charlie and Harry and Martin - to work with. I think we are a KPD and a HFF short of easy top4 finishes for 2-3 years. Then again my bias is big is better - I have never packed into a scrum with runts.

Exactly. I reckon there’s a fair chance Fogarty and Durdin are both outs. Fisher probably on the cusp based in last night’s form too.

Tough choices coming for selectors. What a luxury to have players genuinely competing for spots when you’re coming into finals.
