Did it feel as though Charlie spent alot more time inside the f50 against the Giants? Understandable early on but once he had kicked those goals in the 1st I feel like we missed the marking and bullets inside 50 that sets up goals.
Harry spending time up the ground obviously contributed to that but I think we are best served to Have Charlie up the ground more delivering to Harry Martin and co. Makes us a lot more unpredictable

I'm not as confident with the team, especially as it seems they've tapered off a little in recent weeks. Hopefully this bye does them wonders.

While Sydney's Key Position stocks don't scare me much, they are certainly no pushovers.

Their run and carry is pretty impressive. The likes of Gulden, Warner, Stephens and Campbell around the ground. Then there is Papley, Hayward and Wicks with their forward pressure.

I think the finals experience and larger ground prove advantageous for them. We need to get back to the ground ball dominance and at least match their speed. Otherwise we will most certainly be ran off our feet.

The Acres news was promising today. If he is fit, he plays. Hollands makes way and Walsh plays the wing with his elite endurance.
McKay has to partner up with Charlie and stretch the opposition defence. Can't have him in the ruck unless it is inside attacking 50. Would also like TDK to pop up forward to help more often. So despite previous thoughts, Pittonet plays.

Motlop for Durdin IMO. Motlop's X-Factor should not be ignored.
I love Fisher when he is at his best, but as someone pointed out, he is a dependant. He doesn't inspire a team into form, he doesn't create play the way a player in his position should. Getting the ball is one thing but providing physicality and instigating defensive scoring chains are vital. I feel he lacks these. I prefer the dare from Boyd, who will throw himself at the contest and rebound.

Doc and Crippa come in. Pretty obvious.

But despite all this, my heart says Carlton... while my head says Swans. Hoping I'm wrong.

Have you seen their recent 4th quarters?

Yeah. They haven't been great. But to be honest. Ours haven't been all that Flash either despite winning one or two only just.

It's not the 4th quarters that I worry about though. It's the start of the match, that's where the nerves kick in the most.

Vossy threw the side around last night a bit but your right Harry needs to be a bigger presence.Pitto back in will help push Harry forward.

I thought Young’s best for us was when he was the sole KPD. He doesn’t seem to work well with Weitering in the side. But we’ve also got S Durdin as well
Even though it's now a moot point, I agree with you re Young. But as slow as Marchbank can be, he still manages to be quicker than Young, which worries me. The way we play out of defence needs quick and aggressive decisions, he can do neither of those things.

This lot ended our finals campaigns in both 2010 and 2013, so the Swans are well overdue a finals beating from us.

I can't complain with this draw really. It's a very winnable game for us.

I think we have the Pies or Dees up next if we win, but we'll worry about that once the Swans are hopefully taken care off!

Personally I think Fisher makes the most sense for a sub, can play mid, forward or back. If we get to the last quarter without an injury and need the run, Pitto gets subbed off and Fisher comes into the rotation.

Jeez just had a look at Sydney's form in Melbourne this season - bit of a train wreck. Lost all 3 at the G by 100 points total.

Won 2 at Marvel by a total of 5 points against kangas and the round 20+ bombres.

Clearly we'd need to be better than the past couple of games but we should be winning this game.

I thought Marchbank was a level above a fair number of his teammates once he came on. Such clean hands in the air.

Gov did try 3 stab passes straight up the middle and butchered every one of them. His good is good but he's throwing in some bad moments a bit too frequently.

Cotters for fish but other than that, I have the same team.

Wrong time to be posting, but I had to wake for something... anyway, looking at some suggesting Hollands out and, IMO, if game was played this weekend I would understand. But given an extra week of rest and his performance over the course of the year, I could see him remaining in the team. I also think Dow has been very good, but someone has to make way for Cripps and Docherty and, IMO, Dow has been extraordinary as the sub. I don't see sub as missing out, but a vital role also who will get game time.

How about something like:

Newman Weitering Cincotta

Acres Cripps Docherty

Our form has declined a little over last two weeks….

Slow start against suns but lucky we were able to turn it around

Good start against gws but tapered off badly

I’m a little concerned that maybe what Kingy etc are saying re it’s difficult to sustain the stoppage dominance style of game.

So are we fatiguing is the question I have in my mind…

I hope I’m just overthinking it and/or that we’ve simply adjusted our intensity based on relevance of last two games.

I agree but this bye before the finals will help the boys enormously.

Maybe coincides with our captain, and the heart and soul of our team, playing injured in week one and not at all in week two. He will have his superman cape on in two weeks time, and the rest of the group will have no choice but to play out of their skins with him .💪

The start against GC was very disappointing. The GWS game wasn’t, it was treated like a training match, like we were just trying to get through it.
